Frequently asked questions about this product

Can the SMT3000RMI2U be plugged into a wall socket?
Yes: it comes with a 2 m detachable power cord suited to the country, and accepts a C20, Schuko or British connection. No hard-wiring and no electrician needed, unlike UPSs of comparable power connected via a terminal block.
Are all the outlets on the SMT3000RMI2U battery-backed?
Yes, all twelve: eight C13 outlets, one heavy-duty C19 outlet and three IEC jumpers, all powered by the battery. No output is limited to surge protection only.
How can a line-interactive UPS deliver 2700 W from 3000 VA?
Its power factor of 0.9 releases almost all of the apparent power as watts. A desktop UPS at 0.55 would provide only 1650 for the same rated power: a rack is sized in watts, never in VA.
How long does it take to switch to battery?
4 milliseconds typical, 8 at most — faster than the category average. The output is a sine wave, which suits the power factor corrected power supplies of servers.
How much rack space does the SMT3000RMI2U take up?
2U in height (86 mm), 480 mm wide and 683 mm deep, weighing 44.3 kg. This depth rules out shallow cabinets; the mounting rails are supplied with the installation guide.
Over what voltage range does the SMT3000RMI2U's AVR operate?
Between 160 and 286 V, at a frequency auto-sensed at 50 or 60 Hz ±3 Hz. As long as the mains stays within this window, the battery is not used.
Can the battery be replaced, and how long does it take to recharge?
It is replaced with the RBC43 cartridge, covered for two years, and recharges in 3 hours. It is a maintenance-free sealed lead-acid battery with suspended electrolyte.
How can you tell that the UPS has switched to battery?
Through a multifunction LCD console on the front panel, backed up by audible alarms with configurable delays: the switch to battery mode and the low-battery threshold can be set to suit the way you work.
Is the APC Smart-UPS SMT3000RMI2U new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for a period of 3 years. It is controlled via a USB port for automatic server shutdown, and stays below 55 dBA: install it in a rack or an equipment room.
