Frequently asked questions about this product

Are all the outlets on the SMT750I battery-backed?
Yes: six C13 outlets and two IEC jumpers, all powered by the battery. No output is limited to surge protection only, and the inlet is a C14.
How long does the SMT750I take to switch to battery?
4 milliseconds typical, 8 at most — faster than average. The output waveform is a pure sine wave, which power factor corrected power supplies require.
Why does 750 VA give only 500 W?
The power factor is 0.66: 750 × 0.66 = 500 W actually available. That is enough to cover a workstation or a small server — but sizing is indeed done in watts.
Is the SMT750I quiet enough for an office?
Yes, it is rated at less than 40 dBA. Allow 161 × 363 × 138 mm and 13.2 kg: a compact tower format, but heavy for its size because of the lead-acid battery.
Over what voltage range does the SMT750I's AVR operate?
Between 160 and 280 V, at a frequency auto-sensed at 50 or 60 Hz ±3 Hz. A full battery recharge takes 3 hours.
What is in the SMT750I box?
A USB cable, an RS-232 cable, the software CD and the documentation CD. Both communication links are therefore included, along with a 1.83 m power cord.
How can you tell that the UPS has switched to battery?
Through a multifunction LCD console on the front panel, backed up by audible alarms with configurable delays — which avoids beeps at every brief power dip. A SmartSlot also accepts an optional network card.
Is the APC Smart-UPS SMT750I new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for a period of 3 years. Its output frequency is accepted from 47 to 63 Hz. The datasheet covers the rest.
