How good is the microphone on this Evolve 30 II in an open-plan office?
It is a unidirectional electret condenser microphone on a boom: it picks up the voice in line with your mouth and filters out the distractions around you. The background chatter stays on your side of the conversation.
Is the sound good for anything other than calls?
Yes: the 28 mm speaker covers 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz in music mode and 150 Hz to 7,000 Hz in voice mode. The headset thus switches from a meeting to listening without any notable compromise.
How can you tell from a distance that the agent is on a call?
The Busylight lights up during the call and can be seen from the corridor. The same lights indicate an incoming call and, depending on the part number, Microsoft Teams notifications.
