How is the sound of the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 9 built?
On three channels: a 120 mm woofer and three 20 mm high-frequency drivers, including a dedicated centre channel for vocals. The range covered is 50 Hz to 20 kHz (-6 dB), for 50 W RMS.
Does the Onyx Studio 9 adjust to the room?
Yes: automatic calibration adjusts the sound to wherever it is placed, every time it is used. Moved from the living room to the terrace, it adapts its balance without any intervention, and Constant Sound Field technology complements this by widening the soundstage.
What battery life is stated for the Onyx Studio 9?
Up to 8 hours depending on volume and content, on a 17.14 Wh lithium-ion battery. A full recharge takes 4 hours, via a 2 m mains cable — it is a speaker you move around the house rather than take far afield.
Can the speaker charge a phone?
Yes, through its USB-C port, while the music keeps playing. Playing files via USB, however, only exists on the US version of the model: elsewhere, this port is reserved for servicing and charging.
Can you link several Harman Kardon speakers to the Onyx Studio 9?
Yes: Auracast lets you link two or more compatible speakers, and two Onyx Studio 9 speakers pair in stereo. The speaker also accepts two devices connected at the same time, over Bluetooth 5.3.
How do you carry the Onyx Studio 9?
By its aluminium frame, which serves as both a handle and a stand — the aluminium is 90% recycled. Allow 289.2 x 287.5 x 130 mm and 3.33 kg: it moves from one room to another effortlessly.
Can you adjust the equalisation of the Onyx Studio 9?
Yes, from the Harman Kardon One app, which handles equalisation, settings and all the compatible speakers in the home. The basic controls remain accessible via the silicone buttons on top.
Is the speaker new and covered by a warranty?
