The U8-500 Plus doubles the capacity (8 bays versus 4) in a 2U rackmount form factor, with a more powerful Intel Core i7-1255U processor, 16 GB of memory, and a PCIe slot to extend connectivity.
What is the U8-500 Plus's PCIe slot for?
It lets you add an expansion card — for example for additional networking — as your infrastructure requires, without being limited to the built-in connectivity.
Does the U8-500 Plus include hard drives?
No, the 8 bays and 2 M.2 NVMe slots are sold empty: hard drives and SSDs are ordered separately, for a total capacity of up to 192 TB.
What network throughput does the U8-500 Plus offer?
2 10GbE Ethernet ports, up to 20 Gbps aggregated and 2090 MB/s sequential write, for a professional storage infrastructure with several simultaneous users.
Can the U8-500 Plus serve as a backup server for an entire company?

Yes, through Btrfs file system snapshots (up to 1024 per folder) kept read-only, which allow fast restoration without having to pay a ransom.
