Yes: the 5P 650i fits in 1U — 43.2 mm high — with a width of 438 mm, a depth of 364 mm and a weight of 8.6 kg. That is half the height of a conventional rack-mount UPS, a real gain when every U counts.
How long does the 5P 650i run on battery?
9 minutes at 50% load and 6 minutes at 70%. With 420 W of usable power, that is enough to shut down a switch, a router and a small rack server cleanly.
Is the output of the 5P 650i a pure sine wave?
Yes, the output waveform is a pure sine wave — it is stated explicitly, and it is rare on a line-interactive UPS of this size. The signal stays clean even when the UPS switches to battery.
What voltage and frequency range does the 5P 650i accept?
From 160 to 294 V, adjustable down to 150 V, and from 47 to 70 Hz on a 50 Hz system — down to 40 Hz in low-sensitivity mode. This last setting is what allows it to cope with a very unstable power source.
Why does 650 VA only give 420 W?
The power factor is 0.64: 650 × 0.64 ≈ 420 W actually available. Compare this figure in watts with the combined power draw of everything you install in the rack — switch, router, small NAS.
What is in the 5P 650i's box?
The rack-mounting kit, a cable locking system — which prevents a cord from being accidentally unplugged in the rack —, a USB cable, a serial cable, two IEC-IEC cords, the quick start guide and the safety instructions.
Can the 5P 650i's batteries be changed without cutting the power?
Yes, they are hot-swappable. ABM technology charges them only when necessary, which prevents corrosion and considerably extends their service life.
Can the USB port and the serial port be used simultaneously?
No, the two do not work at the same time. The UPS also has relay contacts, a remote on/off mini-connector and a slot for a Network-MS, ModBus-MS or Relay-MS card.
Is the Eaton 5P 650i Rack 1U new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for 3 years on a standard-exchange basis, batteries included. It stays below 40 dBA and has four C13 outlets with a C14 inlet. The datasheet covers the rest.
