Frequently asked questions about this product

How long does the SMT1000IC run on battery?
19 minutes at 50% load, i.e. 350 W, and 10 minutes at 70%, i.e. 490 W. Recharging then takes only 3 hours: the UPS quickly rebuilds its reserve between two power cuts.
What does the SMT1000IC's SmartConnect feature do?
It lets you monitor the UPS from a web browser, over a cloud connection: status, alerts and reports, all remotely, with no network card to add. The Ethernet cable is included in the box, along with the USB cable and the installation guide.
Is the SMT1000IC's output a pure sine wave?
Yes, the output is sinusoidal — rare for a line-interactive unit, which usually produces a stepped approximation of the signal. This is what the power-factor-corrected power supplies of servers require.
Are all the SMT1000IC's outlets battery-backed?
Yes: eight C13 outlets and two IEC jumpers, all powered by the battery. No output is limited to surge protection, and the input is a C14 inlet.
Over what voltage range does the SMT1000IC's AVR operate?
Between 160 and 286 V by default, adjustable from 151 to 302 V. As long as the mains stays within this window, the battery is not used. Transfer, when it happens, takes 6 ms typical and 10 maximum.
Why does 1000 VA only give 700 W?
The power factor is 0.7: 700 W actually available. That is already well above the 0.5 to 0.6 of desktop UPSs — but sizing is done in watts, never in VA.
How can you tell that the UPS is overloaded or on battery?
Through a multifunction LCD console on the front, backed up by three distinct audible alarms: switch to battery mode, low-battery threshold, and a continuous tone in the event of overload.
How much space does the SMT1000IC take up, and is it noisy?
171 × 439 × 219 mm, weighing 19.4 kg, in tower format. It is rated at 41 dBA: quiet for a professional UPS, it can stay in an office without a dedicated technical room.
Can a network management card be added?
Yes, a SmartSlot is provided for an optional network card, in addition to the built-in SmartConnect cloud monitoring. Local management, for its part, goes through the USB port, with the cable included.
Is the APC Smart-UPS SMT1000IC new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for 3 years. Its input and output frequency is held at 50/60 Hz ±3 Hz, synchronised with the mains. The datasheet covers the rest.
