Can the 16 GB of RAM in the IdeaPad Slim 5 16IMH9 be upgraded?
No. The LPDDR5x-7467 memory is soldered to the motherboard, with no slot at all, and the maximum supported remains 16 GB. It does, however, run in dual channel, which directly benefits the integrated Intel Arc graphics and makes a noticeable difference in visual tasks.
Can a second SSD be added to the IdeaPad Slim 5 16IMH9?
Yes. The chassis has two M.2 slots: a short 2242 slot occupied by the 512 GB SSD, and a free 2280 slot running at PCIe 4.0 x4. You can therefore add a second drive without removing anything, as the machine supports up to two drives in total.
Where is the fingerprint reader on the IdeaPad Slim 5 16IMH9?
On the palm rest, next to the touchpad, rather than in the power button. The 1080p Full HD webcam with an infrared sensor also enables Windows Hello facial recognition, with a physical privacy shutter to cover the lens.
What is the ToF sensor on the IdeaPad Slim 5 16IMH9 for?
This presence detection sensor wakes the machine when you approach and locks it automatically when you walk away. Combined with the infrared camera, it allows touch-free identification: you sit down and the session opens, without touching the keyboard.
Does the IdeaPad Slim 5 16IMH9 have a wired network port?
No, there is no built-in Ethernet port: networking relies on 2x2 Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. On the other hand, a microSD card reader is included, handy for offloading a camcorder or drone card without an adapter.
How good is the Core Ultra 5 125H in the IdeaPad Slim 5 16IMH9?
The H suffix denotes mobile chips with a high thermal envelope, more powerful than the low-power versions. This one has 14 cores — 4 performance, 8 efficient and 2 low-power — for 18 threads, up to 4.5 GHz, with 18 MB of cache and Intel Arc graphics.
Is the chassis of the IdeaPad Slim 5 16IMH9 made of aluminium?
Yes, the lid and bottom cover are made of stamped aluminium, anodised and sandblasted, in the Cloud Grey colour. It has also passed MIL-STD-810H tests covering shock, vibration, dust and temperature extremes, which is uncommon on a consumer laptop.
What ports does the IdeaPad Slim 5 16IMH9 offer?
Two 5 Gb/s USB-C ports with Power Delivery 3.0 and DisplayPort 1.4, two 5 Gb/s USB-A ports, one of them always on, an HDMI 1.4b port, a microSD reader and a headphone/microphone jack. For a high-definition external monitor, you are better off using one of the two USB-C ports rather than the HDMI.
Does the IdeaPad Slim 5 16IMH9 display cause eye strain?
It is certified TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light and TÜV Rheinland Flicker Free — two labels that specifically address visual comfort over long periods. It is a 16-inch 1920 × 1200 IPS panel, anti-glare, rated at 300 nits, non-touch, with a 16:10 aspect ratio.
Does the IdeaPad Slim 5 16IMH9 charge via USB-C?
Yes, the supplied adapter is a three-prong 65 W USB-C unit, and both USB-C ports support Power Delivery 3.0. The built-in 57 Wh battery is generous for a 16-inch laptop, and a single cable is enough to power the PC as well as a phone.
