Is Windows preinstalled on the ThinkPad E16 Gen 2 21MA001LFE?
No: the machine boots into FreeDOS, without Windows. You will therefore need a Windows 11 licence and an installation drive, or you can opt for a Linux distribution. The hardware is fully designed for Windows 11: a discrete TPM 2.0, infrared camera and fingerprint reader are waiting for the operating system.
How much RAM can the ThinkPad E16 Gen 2 take?
Up to 64 GB of DDR5-5600. The machine has two SO-DIMM slots, only one of which is occupied by the original 16 GB module: the second is free. Adding an identical module enables dual channel, which directly benefits the integrated graphics.

Is the ThinkPad E16 Gen 2 chassis made of aluminium?
Yes, both the lid and the bottom cover are aluminium. The machine has also passed MIL-STD-810H tests covering shocks, vibration, dust and temperature extremes, and a Kensington Nano security slot lets you lock it to a fixed workstation.
