Is Windows preinstalled on the ThinkPad E14 Gen 7 21U2003XFE?
No: the machine boots into FreeDOS, without Windows. Plan for a Windows 11 licence and an installation drive, or a Linux distribution. The hardware itself is fully designed for Windows 11: a discrete TPM 2.0, infrared camera and fingerprint reader are just waiting for the operating system.
Can the 512 GB SSD in the ThinkPad E14 Gen 7 be replaced with a larger one?
Yes, up to 1 TB. The drive sits in an M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 slot, the most widespread format on the market, and the machine supports up to one terabyte. This is the main upgrade path for this model, since the memory is soldered and fixed at 16 GB.
Is the memory in the ThinkPad E14 Gen 7 21U2003XFE expandable?
No. The 16 GB of LPDDR5X-8533 is soldered to the motherboard: no slot, no upgrade possible. It is the trade-off of the Lunar Lake platform, which brings the memory closer to the processor. It runs in dual channel, which benefits the integrated Arc 130V graphics.

Is the ThinkPad E14 Gen 7 really light for a business laptop?
