Frequently asked questions about this product
Is Windows preinstalled on the HP ProBook 4 G1iR 14?
No. It ships with FreeDOS, without Windows: you will need to install an operating system and its licence, or a Linux distribution. The hardware, on the other hand, is complete — AZERTY keyboard, fingerprint reader, wired networking — and ready for the operating system of your choice.
How good is this ProBook's Core 7 150U, and what does the “U” stand for?
The U denotes Intel's low-power variant, built for battery life and quiet operation. With 10 cores and 12 threads, up to 5.4 GHz, and 12 MB of cache, this Core 7 150U easily copes with many browser tabs, a video call and an office suite at the same time; it is not designed for sustained 3D rendering.
Does this 14-inch ProBook have an RJ-45 Ethernet port?
Yes, a genuine Gigabit RJ-45 port is built into the chassis, which has become rare on a slim 14-inch laptop. The network cable plugs straight in, with no USB adapter to carry around: a real plus in the office, on a wired network, or when the meeting room Wi-Fi is overloaded.
How does the HP ProBook 4 G1iR charge, and what can its USB-C ports do?
The supplied adapter is a 45 W USB Type-C unit. The two USB-C ports run at up to 20 Gbps and combine power (Power Delivery 3.0), display output (DisplayPort 1.4) and the HP Sleep and Charge feature, which lets you charge a phone even while the laptop is asleep.
Is this ProBook's panel suitable for photo or video work?
Not really. The WUXGA 1920 × 1200 anti-glare IPS screen reaches 300 nits but covers only 62.5% of the sRGB colour space: very comfortable for office work and video calls, but too limited as soon as colour accuracy matters. The anti-glare coating is still a real asset when facing a window.
How do you sign in to this ProBook without typing a password?
With the fingerprint reader built into the chassis: once the operating system is installed and your fingerprint enrolled, simply placing a finger on it signs you in. It is also a useful safeguard in a business setting, where a laptop is rarely under constant supervision.
Is this ProBook equipped for video conferencing?
Yes. It pairs a Full HD 1080p webcam with two stereo speakers tuned by Poly Studio and dual-array microphones that favour the voice of the person facing the screen. Enough to hold a meeting without a headset, even in a shared office.
Is the keyboard of the HP ProBook 4 G1iR spill-resistant?
Yes, the French AZERTY keyboard is specified as spill-resistant and is backlit. Two assets for a machine on the move: it can withstand a small accident in a meeting, and you can keep typing in a dimly lit room or while travelling in the evening.
Does this ProBook have a built-in AI engine like Copilot+ PCs?
No, this model has no dedicated AI accelerator: that kind of processing relies on the processor and the Intel graphics. For office work, the web and video calls, this makes no difference to the experience; it is a factor to weigh if you intend to run AI applications locally.
Is the HP ProBook 4 G1iR 14 new and under warranty?
Yes, it is new and sealed, covered by a 1-year warranty; the purchase invoice serves as the warranty document. Its 56 Wh HP Long Life battery and its silver aluminium chassis round off a package designed for everyday professional use.
