Does it need a lamp replacement, and after how long?
No, there is no lamp to replace: the light source is a maintenance-free laser, rated for 20,000 hours — and this lifespan is the same in all three modes, High, Medium and Eco. That represents about 10 years of home viewing, with no consumables to buy.
How far from the wall should it be installed?
Allow about 1.33 m for a 60-inch image, and up to 150 inches (3.81 m) diagonal by moving it further back. Its throw ratio ranges from 1.00 to 1.82:1 with a motorised zoom lens, and images start at 30 inches: it suits a bedroom as well as a large living room.
Do you need to connect an external box to access streaming?
No. Google TV and Chromecast are built in: over 400,000 films and TV episodes are available from the interface, and Google Assistant lets you search for a film, launch an app or control the projector by voice. You can also cast directly from a phone or a tablet with Google Cast.
Can it be used as a simple Bluetooth speaker, without projecting?
Yes. The built-in 2 × 5 W stereo Bluetooth speakers can be used with or without the picture: the projector then becomes a speaker for your phone or tablet, without the image being switched on. Weighing 2.3 kg and measuring 197 × 191 × 113 mm, it moves easily from one room to another.
What exactly are its connections, and is there a network port?
Connections: HDMI (HDCP 2.3), HDMI ARC, USB 2.0-A, USB 2.0 Mini-B, an audio jack output and Bluetooth. However, there is no Ethernet port: no wired RJ45 network connection is provided on this unit.
Can you connect a soundbar or headphones to it?
Yes, in two ways: the HDMI ARC port sends the projector's sound to a soundbar over a single cable, and the jack output accepts headphones or wired speakers. Otherwise, the two built-in 5 W stereo speakers are enough to get started.
Is it noisy when you watch a film in a quiet room?
No: 23 dB(A) in normal mode and 19 dB(A) in eco mode. That is a very low level, which blends into the soundtrack and lets you place it close to the audience without being bothered by the fan. In return, eco mode lowers the brightness to 500 lumens.
How much electricity does it use?
78 W in normal operation and 51 W in eco mode, with peaks measured at 109 W and 80 W respectively. It accepts 100-240 V at 50/60 Hz, so it runs on the Moroccan mains without a transformer. Eco mode thus cuts consumption by more than a quarter.
Can it be placed on the floor or project onto the ceiling?
Yes, it projects in any direction: onto a wall, the ceiling or the floor, placed on a desk, a TV unit or directly on the floor. Automatic keystone correction, horizontal and vertical, autofocus, obstacle avoidance and screen fit straighten the image on their own; Quick Corner then allows fine manual adjustment.
Can it cope with the heat of a room without air conditioning in summer?
Its operating range is 5 to 35 °C, with a permitted humidity of 20 to 80%. Above 35 °C ambient, it is best to ventilate or air-condition the room before starting a viewing session. When not in use, it can be stored at -10 to 60 °C.
Is 1,000 lumens comparable to the figures quoted for DLP?
No, and this works in Epson's favour: its 3LCD technology delivers colour brightness equal to white brightness, 1,000 lumens in both cases (IDMS15.4 and ISO 21118:2020 standards), whereas a comparable single-chip DLP projector shows colours up to three times less bright. Eco mode drops to 500 lumens.
What is in the box?
The main unit, the power cable, the remote control with its batteries, the quick start guide, the user manual and the warranty document. As Google TV is built in, you just plug it into the mains and sign in to start your first viewing session. An anti-theft security cable (ELPWR01) is available as an option.
Is the image truly Full HD, and does it support HDR?
Yes: Full HD 1920 × 1080 in 16:9, with 16.77 million colours, 8-bit processing, HDR10 support and a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 for deep blacks. Four colour modes are available: Dynamic, Natural, Cinema and Vivid.
Is the projector new and under warranty?
Yes: the unit is new and sealed in its original packaging, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document for 1 year. All the detailed specifications are in the Epson datasheet (PDF).
