Can the 1 TB SSD be replaced with a larger drive?

Yes. The drive is a user-replaceable 2.5-inch 1 TB SATA SSD: you can swap it when your video recordings fill it up, without replacing the console. The console also has 32 GB of eMMC and 3 GB of RAM.

How many UniFi Protect cameras can the CloudKey+ handle?

24 HD cameras, 14 2K cameras or 8 4K cameras, depending on the chosen resolution. The pre-installed 1 TB SATA SSD stores the recordings, and the octa-core Arm Cortex-A53 processor, backed by 3 GB of RAM, handles stream processing.

Do I need an additional power supply?

The intended power source is PoE, through the network port; USB-C power with Quick Charge 2.0/3.0 (9 V DC, 2 A) is listed as optional. So make sure you have a free PoE port on your switch — the console draws only 9.6 W at most, and you avoid a second cable.

Can it run several UniFi applications at the same time?

Yes: Network, Protect, Access, Talk and Connect are all supported on the same console. That is what sets it apart from a simple network controller — networking, video surveillance, access control and telephony all fit in a single unit, powered by the octa-core processor and 3 GB of RAM.

Does it replace my network switch?

No. It has only one GbE RJ45 port: it connects to your existing switch, which also supplies its PoE power. Cameras and Wi-Fi access points remain connected to the switch, not to the console. So make sure you have a free PoE port before installing it.

Can it be accessed remotely, away from the office?

Yes. The console links to the UniFi Site Manager, accessible from unifi.ui.com, so you can manage the installation without being on site. On site, Bluetooth provides instant setup and makes initial configuration easier, with day-to-day administration then handled over Ethernet.

Is there a display on the unit?

Yes, a 1.42-inch greyscale OLED display is built into the device. The whole unit keeps the format of a compact desktop device: 131.2 × 27.1 × 134.2 mm and 560 g.

Can it be installed in a non-air-conditioned equipment room?

Its operating range is narrow: 0 to 35 °C only, at 20 to 80% non-condensing humidity. This is a constraint to take seriously. A ventilated, shaded spot in an office room fits these limits better than a closed cabinet in the height of summer.

Is this console reliable enough for continuous operation?

It is NDAA compliant and CE, FCC, IC, Anatel and SRRC certified. The chassis is made of anodised aluminium, video is stored on a SATA SSD rather than a hard drive, and maximum power consumption is 9.6 W.

Is the CloudKey+ SSD new and under warranty?

Yes: the UCK-G2-SSD is new and sealed in its original packaging, delivered with its invoice. The invoice serves as the warranty document, for one year. The 1 TB SSD is already installed in the console on delivery, so there is nothing to fit.
