The H200 is a closed-back monitoring headphone that surrounds the ear. It features 40 mm drivers with PEEK diaphragms, isolates by 40 dB in the treble, can be repaired part by part, and comes with a plug-in that helps translate on headphones a mix designed for speakers.

Wide response, low distortion

The drivers' diaphragm is made of PEEK, driven by a neodymium magnet. The response extends from 2 Hz to 23.5 kHz at -3 dB, and distortion stays below 0.02% at 1 kHz and 100 dB SPL. The earcups, designed for airflow inside, are well damped; with the memory foam earpads, they filter outside noise by 40 dB on average above 4 kHz.

Cable on either side

The 3 m straight cable plugs into either the left or the right side, via a 2.5 mm jack that clicks to lock. At the source end, a 3.5 mm jack and a screw-on 6.35 mm adapter. Earpads and headband padding can be swapped by hand; with heavy use, the manual advises replacing them every year, otherwise every two years.

The plug-in that brings headphones closer to speakers

The H200 comes with the ADAM Audio Headphone Utility plug-in, developed with Sonnox. Placed on the master or monitoring track of the digital audio workstation, it optimizes listening for these headphones, and its externalization feature helps you hear on headphones a mix designed for speakers. It can be downloaded from the MyADAM area, after registering the headphones.

Frequently asked questions about this product

What can the H200 be connected to?
To the headphone output of an audio interface, a mixing console, a headphone amplifier, a computer or a portable player, according to the manual; its impedance is 32 ohms. The cable ends in a 3.5 mm jack, and a supplied 6.35 mm adapter screws onto it for the sockets of studio equipment.
Is the cable replaceable?
Yes. The 3 m straight cable plugs into either the left or the right earcup, via a 2.5 mm jack that locks with a click; you remove it by pulling on the barrel, never on the wire.
Does it isolate well from outside noise?
Yes, it is a closed-back headphone that encloses the ear: passive attenuation reaches 40 dB on average above 4 kHz, an entirely passive isolation that comes from the closed earcups and the memory foam earpads.
What is the Headphone Utility plug-in for?
It goes on the master or monitoring track of the digital audio workstation and optimizes listening for the H200. Its externalization function helps translate to headphones a mix designed for speakers. The plug-in, developed with Sonnox, can be downloaded free of charge after registering the headphones in the MyADAM area.
Do the earpads wear out?
Like any foam, yes: for hygiene, the manual recommends replacing the earpads and the headband padding once a year with intensive use, every two years with moderate use. The earpads come off by pulling from the middle and go back on by sliding their edge into the groove; the headband padding unclips the same way.
Is the H200 foldable?
No, the headband does not fold. For transport, the H200 comes with a soft pouch. It weighs 250 g without cable; its earcups are made of 85% recycled PC-ABS and its yokes of anodized aluminum, for a firm clamp without excess.
