Frequently asked questions about this product

How long does the SMC1000IC run on battery?
22 minutes at 50% load, i.e. 300 W, and 15 minutes at 70%, i.e. 420 W. That is very comfortable for a 1 kVA unit, and a full recharge then takes only 3 hours.
How does the SMC1000IC differ from a desktop UPS?
Through its pure sine wave output and its voltage regulation, which corrects the mains supply without switching to battery mode: the battery is preserved, and the power stays clean for a server, a NAS or a switch — not just for a PC.
Are all eight outlets battery-backed?
Yes, all eight C13 outlets are powered by the battery: none is limited to surge protection. The input is a C14 inlet, and the power cord is included.
What does this UPS's SmartConnect feature do?
It lets you monitor and manage the UPS remotely from a web browser, over a cloud connection: real-time status, alerts and settings are accessible without a monitoring server or an extra network card.
Over what voltage range does the regulator operate?
Between 180 and 287 V by default, adjustable from 170 to 300 V. Transfer to battery, when needed, takes 6 milliseconds typical and 10 maximum.
Why does 1000 VA only give 600 W?
The power factor is 0.6: 600 W actually available. Compare this figure in watts with the combined consumption of your small server, your NAS and your switch — it is the only value that matters for sizing.
How do you shut down a server automatically with the SMC1000IC?
Through the USB port — cable included — or the RJ-45 serial port. A multifunction LCD console on the front also shows the UPS status, without any software.
How much space does the SMC1000IC take up, and is it noisy?
171 × 439 × 219 mm, weighing 17.27 kg. It is rated at 41 dBA: quiet enough for an office or a shared room, without requiring a dedicated technical room.
Is the APC Smart-UPS SMC1000IC new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for 2 years, covering repair or replacement. It is CE, GOST, VDE and UL 1778 certified. The datasheet lists all the values.
