Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the Blackwire 8225 connect to a computer without a USB-C port?
Yes. It connects via USB-C and a USB-C to USB-A adapter is included: the headset plugs into any computer, with no configuration or software to install.
What is the difference between the ANC and the Acoustic Fence microphone on this headset?
They do not serve the same person. Hybrid active noise cancellation electronically reduces what you hear; the Acoustic Fence microphone filters out background chatter so that the person you are talking to hears only your voice.
Does the headset fit properly on every head?
Its speakers swivel to sit flat against each ear, which matters as much as weight on a noise-cancelling headset: a poor fit lets in the noise the ANC was supposed to remove.
186 g: is it bearable over a day of meetings?
That is the stated weight for this stereo active noise-cancelling headset — the processing electronics and battery always add a few dozen grams compared with a simple call headset. Poly explicitly intends it for long days of meetings.
Do you need to install software to use the Blackwire 8225?
No, it is recognised as soon as it is plugged in: no installation, no prior setup. That is what sets a professional wired headset apart from a wireless model that has to be paired.
Are two earpieces really useful in an open-plan office?
Yes: the stereo design covers both ears and isolates you from background chatter, which helps you concentrate. The trade-off is that you hear your team less well — an organisational decision before it is a comfort choice.
