Do you need a power outlet nearby to install this access point?
No. The network cable powers and connects it: it accepts both PoE 802.3af and PoE+ 802.3at, for 12.95 W maximum. Local power at 12 V / 1.5 A remains possible, but the AC adapter is sold separately — so you will need a switch or a PoE injector.
What exactly is in the box of the Reyee RG-RAP2200(E)?
The access point, its mounting bracket, two cheese-head screws, two wall plugs, the quick start guide and the warranty card. The mounting hardware is therefore included, for ceiling and wall installation alike. On your side, you will still need the switch or injector that will supply the PoE.
How many devices can connect to this access point at the same time?
110 maximum, with 40 devices recommended for a comfortable experience: 8 on the 2.4 GHz band and 32 on the 5 GHz band. It is this figure of 40 you should keep in mind when sizing a meeting room or an open-plan office; beyond that, a second access point is needed.
What is the second Ethernet port on the RG-RAP2200(E) for?
Both ports run at 10/100/1000 Mbps. The first, LAN1, receives PoE and connects the access point to the network; the second serves a wired device installed right next to it — a desktop PC, a camera or a small auxiliary switch. This saves running a second cable up to the ceiling.
What is the difference between the (E) and (F) versions of the RG-RAP2200?
The Wi-Fi data rates and software features are identical; it is the wired ports that differ. The (E) version, sold here, has two 10/100/1000 Mbps ports, whereas the (F) version is limited to two 10/100 Mbps ports. On a fast link, the Gigabit ports of the (E) avoid throttling traffic.
Do you need to buy a controller or a licence to manage this access point?
No. Configuration is done locally from a web browser, or remotely through the Ruijie Cloud app and platform, whose management is free. SON technology sets up the network in three minutes, and WIO optimisation adjusts channels and transmit power in one click.
Can you extend coverage without running a new network cable?
Yes, thanks to Reyee Mesh: an additional access point links wirelessly to the first one, with no cabling to the new location. It must still be powered on site, via PoE or a power adapter, but you are spared running a network cable.
How many separate Wi-Fi networks can this access point broadcast?
Up to 8 SSIDs, each with its own authentication mode, encryption and VLAN. An SSID can be hidden, the number of devices can be limited per network or per band, and Layer 2 isolation prevents guests from seeing one another.
Does the connection drop when moving from one access point to another?
No, roaming is handled at both Layer 2 and Layer 3: the session stays open even when changing subnet. A video call or a file transfer is therefore not interrupted when you move from one office to another.
Can this access point be installed outdoors or in a technical room?
It is designed for indoor use and operates between 0 and 40 °C, at 5 to 95% non-condensing humidity. A ventilated technical room suits it; a building façade, a terrace or a covered yard exposed to the weather calls for an outdoor access point.
Is an entry-level PoE switch enough to power the RG-RAP2200(E)?
Yes. Its power consumption peaks at 12.95 W, below the 15.4 W delivered by an 802.3af port: a basic PoE switch will do, with no need for PoE+ 802.3at. Just check the switch's total budget when several access points share the same power allowance.
Can it replace the router, or must it be connected behind an existing router?
Both uses are supported: it works in access point mode or in router mode, with static IP address, DHCP client or PPPoE connection. In a very small organisation it can handle the internet connection itself; on a network that is already equipped, leave it as a simple access point.
What encryption protects the Wi-Fi broadcast by this access point?
It supports WPA2 (AES), WPA (TKIP) and WPA-PSK, with pre-shared key authentication. On top of that come static blacklists and whitelists, to accept only known devices, and user isolation on a guest network.
Is the equipment new and covered by a warranty?
