Is the power adapter supplied with the EAP670?
Yes, the box contains the access point, a power adapter, the ceiling and wall mounting kits and the installation guide. The access point therefore accepts PoE+ 802.3at over the network cable, or a local 12 V / 1.5 A power supply.
Is a simple PoE switch enough for the EAP670?
No: its power consumption reaches 18.1 W, beyond the 15.4 W that an 802.3af port can deliver. It needs a PoE+ 802.3at port — or the supplied power adapter. Also check the switch's total PoE budget when several access points are connected to it.
Why does the EAP670 have a 2.5 Gbps port rather than a Gigabit port?
Because its radio far exceeds Gigabit: 4,804 Mbps on the 5 GHz band, plus 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. A 1 Gbps port would have throttled the whole; the 2.5 Gbps port removes this cap, provided the switch at the other end also supports 2.5 Gbps.
What does the EAP670's 160 MHz (HE160) channel bring?
It doubles the channel width compared with the 80 MHz of typical Wi-Fi 6 access points, and therefore the data rate of a single stream. Two caveats: the client device must support HE160, and this width is only available on the 5 GHz band, depending on the channels permitted by local regulations.
Do Mesh, roaming and the captive portal work without a controller?
No: Omada Mesh, seamless roaming and the captive portal require an Omada SDN controller — software, OC200/OC300 hardware or cloud. A standalone access point broadcasts Wi-Fi perfectly well, but these three features are only activated once the access point has been adopted.
How many devices does the EAP670 serve at the same time?
More than 250 wireless clients. Throughput is shared out by OFDMA and MU-MIMO, which serve several devices in the same time slot rather than one after the other — this is what sets Wi-Fi 6 apart in a meeting room or a lecture hall.
How many antennas does the EAP670 have, and are they visible?
Six internal omnidirectional antennas: four 5 dBi antennas on the 5 GHz band — hence the four spatial streams — and two 4 dBi antennas on 2.4 GHz. Nothing protrudes from the housing, which measures 243 × 243 × 64 mm.
Does the EAP670 support WPA3 and server-based authentication?
Yes, in both WPA3-Personal and WPA3-Enterprise, as well as WPA and WPA2 in both variants, with 802.1X support. Rogue access point detection flags any unauthorised access point broadcasting within range.
How many separate Wi-Fi networks can be created on the EAP670?
16 SSIDs, eight per band, each of which can be given its own VLAN and rate limit. Enough to separate staff, visitors, checkouts and connected devices on a single access point, with client isolation.
Is zero-touch deployment possible with the EAP670?
Yes, via the Omada cloud controller, which also handles automatic channel selection and transmit power adjustment. The access point is shipped to the remote site, plugged in by a non-specialist, then configured remotely.
What monitoring tools does the EAP670 offer an administrator?
Web access via HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, SNMP v1, v2c and v3, a local or remote system log, email alerts and statistics per SSID, per access point and per client. Multi-site management and Layer 3 management are supported.
Are recent devices needed to take advantage of the AX5400 data rate?
Yes: OFDMA, HE160 and 1024-QAM only deliver their full potential if the client device supports them. A Wi-Fi 5 laptop will connect normally and benefit from the access point, but not from the 4,804 Mbps of the 5 GHz band.
In what environment can the EAP670 be installed?
Indoors, between 0 and 40 °C, with 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity, on the ceiling or wall with the supplied kits. The LEDs can be turned off where they are a nuisance, in a meeting room or a bedroom.
Is the equipment new and under warranty?
