Do you need a controller to install the Instant On AP25?
No, everything is managed from the HPE Networking Instant On app on a smartphone, or from a web browser: there is no controller or server to install. That is the whole idea behind the Instant On range, designed for businesses without a dedicated network team.
Why does the AP25 have a 2.5 Gbps port rather than a Gigabit port?
Because its radio goes well beyond Gigabit: 4,800 Mbps on the 5 GHz band, for 5.3 Gbps combined. A 1 Gbps port would have throttled the whole unit; the 2.5 Gbps port lifts that ceiling, provided the switch at the other end supports it too.
Do you need 160 MHz channels to reach 4,800 Mbps?
Yes, this data rate is achieved with 160 MHz channels on the 5 GHz band, with a client device able to keep up. The 2.4 GHz band, for its part, tops out at 574 Mbps — the gap between the two bands is one of the widest in this category.
What difference does the AP25's 4x4 MIMO make in a busy room?
The 5 GHz band runs in 4x4:4 MU-MIMO — four spatial streams — compared with 2x2 on 2.4 GHz: the access point communicates with more devices in parallel. Combined with OFDMA, this is what keeps a meeting room or a busy open-plan floor running smoothly.
What power supply do you need for the AP25?
A PoE+ 802.3at port: a single network cable carries both power and data, with no power outlet needed on the ceiling. Check the switch's total PoE budget when several access points of this class are connected to it.
Is the mounting clip supplied with the AP25?
Yes, a mounting clip is supplied, for ceiling or wall installation. The access point is designed for indoor use and has a discreet design, suited to an office, a shop or a classroom.
Is the equipment new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for 1 year. The access point is set up directly from the app, so no technician needs to come on site for the initial configuration.
