Is a standard PoE switch enough for the Reyee RG-RAP2266?
No, it needs PoE+ 802.3at: its power consumption reaches 18 W, beyond the 15.4 W that an 802.3af port can deliver. Also check the switch's total PoE budget when several access points share the same allowance.
Is the mains power adapter supplied with the access point?
No, the local DC power supply is not included. The access point accepts a 12 V / 2 A adapter on its DC port, but in practice it is PoE+ that powers it over the network cable, with no electrical outlet needed on the ceiling.
Can the RG-RAP2266 in turn power another device over PoE?
No, it has no PoE output: its single 10/100/1000 Base-T port is used only to connect it to the network and to power it. A camera or IP phone installed nearby will therefore need its own port on the switch.
How many devices can the RG-RAP2266 handle at the same time?
512 at most, with 110 recommended. The second figure is the one that matters when sizing a room or a floor: it is the number of devices served in good conditions, whereas the first is a theoretical ceiling.
What distance does this AX3000 access point really cover?
The recommended radius is 70 m on the 5 GHz band and 40 m on 2.4 GHz, for a theoretical maximum of 150 m in open space. These values assume few obstacles: load-bearing walls and metal partitions reduce them considerably.
How is the RG-RAP2266 mounted on the ceiling, and is the bracket supplied?
It sits on its bracket and then locks in place with a simple twist, no tools required. The bracket measures 113.5 × 113.5 mm, with 80 mm hole spacing and 6.5 mm holes. The access point itself is 220 mm in diameter and 52.6 mm thick, and weighs under 500 g.
Is a 160 MHz channel needed to reach the advertised 2,402 Mbps?
Yes. The 5 GHz band accepts 20, 40, 80 or 160 MHz channels, and the maximum data rate is reached at 160 MHz, with a client device able to keep up. The 2.4 GHz band, for its part, is limited to 20 or 40 MHz, for 574 Mbps.
Is the Wi-Fi 6 TWT power-saving feature supported?
No, TWT (Target Wake Time), which schedules when connected devices wake up to spare their batteries, is not supported on this model. The other Wi-Fi 6 features are indeed present: OFDMA, 2×2 MU-MIMO and beamforming.
Does the connection hold when moving from one Reyee access point to another?
Yes: roaming works at Layer 2 and Layer 3 alike, and the cloud algorithm relies on 802.11k/v to steer the device to the best access point. The stated packet loss rate stays below 0.5%, with latency under 0.1 seconds.
Can an access point be added where no network cable reaches?
Yes, with Reyee Mesh: the new access point connects to the network wirelessly and configures itself automatically. It still needs power on site, via PoE+ or a mains adapter, but no network cable has to be run to it.
How is the RG-RAP2266 managed remotely?
Through the Ruijie Cloud platform and the Reyee app: self-organising network, scenario-based configuration, captive portal authentication, monitoring and firmware updates from the cloud. Local management via a web browser remains possible on the network.
Can several separate Wi-Fi networks be created on this access point?
Up to 8 SSIDs, with VLAN support, a built-in DHCP server and a limit on the number of devices per network. The access point connects with a static IP address, as a DHCP client or as a PPPoE client, depending on how your network is set up.
Can the RG-RAP2266 be installed outdoors or in a damp room?
It is designed for indoor use: it has no ingress protection rating, its operating range is 0 to 40 °C and permitted humidity goes up to 95% non-condensing. Its ports withstand ±2 kV surges.
