The EAP613 is Wi-Fi 6: does it also broadcast on the 6 GHz band?
No, it is dual-band: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz only. The 6 GHz band belongs to Wi-Fi 6E, a different variant. This takes nothing away from its 1,201 Mbps on 5 GHz, but a 6 GHz-capable device will connect here on the 5 GHz band.
What does the EAP613's Wi-Fi 6 actually bring compared with a Wi-Fi 5 access point?
The gain shows mainly when many devices transmit at the same time: OFDMA splits each channel to serve several clients in the same time slot, MU-MIMO addresses them in parallel and 1024-QAM modulation packs the data more densely, for an advertised data rate 25% higher.
How do you power the TP-Link EAP613?
Through the network cable using PoE 802.3af, through passive PoE, or with a 12 V / 1 A power adapter plugged into its DC input. A standard PoE switch is therefore enough, and the DC input remains a fallback where no PoE port is available.
Does the single Gigabit port hold back the AX1800's data rates?
The radios add up to 1,201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, but all traffic to the wired network goes through a single Gigabit RJ45 port. In everyday use — web, files and video conferencing spread across dozens of workstations — this port is not the limiting factor; it would matter for a single transfer saturating the radio.
How many devices can the EAP613 serve simultaneously?
More than 250, with 256 associated stations maximum. OFDMA and MU-MIMO reduce waiting when everyone connects at the same time: this is the profile of an office floor, a classroom or a busy café.
What area can a single EAP613 cover?
Up to 115 m² per access point. That figure assumes an unobstructed ceiling: thick partitions, reinforced concrete and glazed walls reduce it significantly. For a larger floor, several access points coordinate with one another and roaming moves devices from one to the next.
Do you have to use an Omada controller with this access point?
You have the choice: a software controller on a computer, a hardware controller, a cloud controller or simply the mobile app. Provisioning requires no on-site intervention, and the whole network — Omada access points, switches and gateways — is managed from the same interface.
Does the EAP613 support WPA3 encryption?
Yes, in both WPA3-Personal and WPA3-Enterprise, and it also supports OWE, which encrypts a guest network even without a password. Rogue access point detection also flags any unauthorised access point that appears within range.
How many Wi-Fi networks can you create, and can they be segregated into VLANs?
Up to 16 SSIDs, eight per band, with a VLAN assigned per SSID: the guest network thus stays separate from the corporate network. Bandwidth can be limited network by network, and adaptive bandwidth management shares out the rest.
Can you add an access point where no network cable reaches?
Yes, the EAP613 supports mesh: an access point connects to the network over the air rather than by cable. It still needs power on site, and seamless roaming switches devices from one access point to another without breaking the session.
Can the TP-Link EAP613 be mounted on a wall or only on a ceiling?
Both positions are supported. The housing measures 160 × 160 × 33.6 mm, only 33.6 mm thick, in white: fitted on a suspended ceiling tile, it is barely noticeable. Installation is completed with a simple twist onto its mount.
Are the antennas external, and what is their transmission range?
They are internal and omnidirectional: four antennas, 5 dBi on the 5 GHz band and 4 dBi on 2.4 GHz, with nothing protruding from the housing. Transmit power reaches 23 to 25 dBm on 5 GHz and stays below 20 dBm on 2.4 GHz, within regulatory limits.
Is the equipment new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for one year. The access point is supplied ready to be adopted by an Omada controller, whether local or cloud-hosted.
