Can the GWN7660ELR withstand direct exposure to rain?
Yes, its housing is rated IP67 — dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion — provided it is installed vertically. It operates from -30 to +60 °C, with technology described as heat-resistant.
What is the 2.5 Gbps SFP port on the GWN7660ELR for?
To connect it over fibre optic rather than copper: on a large site — car park, warehouse, campus —, fibre easily covers distances where copper stops at 100 m, and its 2.5 Gbps data rate exceeds that of the Gigabit RJ45 port alongside it.
How is the GWN7660ELR powered if it is connected over fibre?
Through the PoE of the RJ45 port, in 802.3af or 802.3at with automatic detection, for 13 W maximum. A fibre-only connection carries no power: the Ethernet cable is still required, or a dedicated power supply on site.
How far does the GWN7660ELR's signal reach?
Up to 300 metres, thanks to XTRA Range technology and five high-gain internal antennas — 5.5 dBi on 2.4 GHz and 6 dBi on 5 GHz. This range applies in open space: walls, trees and buildings reduce it considerably.

Are 160 MHz channels needed to reach the 2,403 Mbps?
Yes. The 5 GHz band accepts 20, 40, 80 or 160 MHz channels, and it is at 160 MHz that it reaches its maximum data rate, with a client device able to keep up. The 2.4 GHz band is limited to 20 or 40 MHz.
Does the GWN7660ELR support WPA3?
Yes, in addition to WPA2-PSK and WPA/WPA2 Enterprise with TKIP or AES. The hardware boots on digitally signed firmware, and each access point leaves the factory with its own certificate and its own random password.
What is the built-in Bluetooth on this outdoor access point for?
The access point includes a Bluetooth Low Energy 5.2 radio, with its own 4.5 dBi antenna. It acts as a relay for sensors, beacons and tracking tags installed nearby, with no additional gateway needed on site.
Do you need a hardware controller to manage several GWN7660ELR units?
No. A controller is built into the web interface of the access point and manages up to 50 access points of the GWN series locally, with no licence. GWN.Cloud manages an unlimited number of devices free of charge, and GWN Manager, installed on your own servers, scales up to 3,000 access points.
