What is in the box with the EAP603-Outdoor?
Yes: the box contains the access point, a passive PoE adapter with its power cord, the mounting kit and the installation guide. You can therefore install it without a PoE switch, or connect it to an existing 802.3at port.
How weatherproof is the EAP603-Outdoor really?
IP66 when wall-mounted and IP65 when pole-mounted: the difference comes down to the enclosure's orientation once installed. In both cases, the access point is dust-tight and protected against water jets, and its ports withstand ±6 kV surges.
How far does this outdoor access point's signal reach?
Up to 300 m on the 5 GHz band and 200 m on 2.4 GHz, thanks to two external dual-band antennas with power amplifiers — 4 dBi on 2.4 GHz and 5 dBi on 5 GHz. These ranges apply in open space, with no obstacle between the access point and the device.
What temperature range can the EAP603-Outdoor withstand?
From -30 to +70 °C: one of the widest ranges in the category, covering a wall in full sun just as well as an unheated warehouse. Humidity is not a problem either, as the enclosure is sealed.
How much power does the EAP603-Outdoor draw, and what PoE does it need?
15.8 W at peak and 4.8 W at idle: it therefore needs a PoE+ 802.3at port, as its consumption exceeds the 15.4 W of an 802.3af port. The accepted input voltage ranges from 42.5 to 57 V at 0.36 A.
Are the EAP603-Outdoor's antennas visible?
Yes, two external omnidirectional dual-band antennas mount on the enclosure. This is what gives it its range: the signal spreads all around the access point, which suits a courtyard, a pool or a park rather than a narrow corridor.
How many devices can this outdoor access point serve at the same time?
250 devices, for a combined data rate of 1.8 Gbps: 1,201 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 573 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Wi-Fi 6 OFDMA and MU-MIMO serve them together rather than one after the other.
Is the EAP603-Outdoor's network port a bottleneck?
It is a single Gigabit port, powered by PoE+. With a theoretical radio data rate of 1.8 Gbps, it caps traffic to the wired network at 1 Gbps — a limit rarely reached outdoors, where usage is mostly web browsing, video and payments.
Where can the mounting kit be used to fix the EAP603-Outdoor?
On a wall or a pole, as both kits are supplied. Bear in mind the difference in weatherproofing: IP66 on a wall, IP65 on a pole. The enclosure measures 230 × 207.5 × 69.7 mm, excluding antennas.
Does the EAP603-Outdoor support WPA3 and a captive portal?
Yes, WPA3 encryption, a guest network and a captive portal, which lets you open controlled access on a terrace or in a car park. Everything is managed from the Omada platform, with one-click adoption of the access point.
Can a remote area be covered without running a network cable to it?
Yes, Omada mesh lets an access point connect to the network wirelessly, which avoids digging a trench across a courtyard or a car park. It still needs power on site, and seamless roaming keeps the connection going between access points.
How do you manage several EAP603-Outdoor units remotely?
Through the Omada SDN platform: software controller, hardware controller, cloud controller or mobile app, as you prefer. Omada access points, switches and gateways are managed from the same interface, with one-click adoption at installation.
Is the equipment new and under warranty?
