Can the AP266 power a camera or an IP phone over the network?
Yes: of its four Gigabit downlink ports, one provides PoE. A camera, IP phone or sensor installed in the same room can therefore be plugged straight into the wall plate, with no power outlet or extra cable running back to the rack.
What power supply does the AP266 need?
A PoE+ 802.3at port — more demanding than the version in the range without PoE out, precisely because it needs enough to power a downstream device. The access point itself draws 9.4 W, excluding PoE out.
What does the AP266's wall-plate format bring to a room?
It brings Wi-Fi and wired connections together in one place: one uplink port and four Gigabit downlink ports in a 86 × 160 × 38 mm housing. It can be placed on a desk, on a wall, on a ceiling or on a flush-mounted junction box, in place of a network socket.
What data rate does the AP266 deliver?
2,400 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 575 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, for 2.975 Gbps combined over four spatial streams. Wi-Fi 6's 1024-QAM modulation carries 25% more data than Wi-Fi 5's 256-QAM.
How many devices can the AP266 handle at the same time?
128 devices at most, and up to 16 separate Wi-Fi networks. It is sized for a room, a treatment room or an office — not for a reception hall, where a ceiling-mounted access point remains better suited.
What do the AP266's smart antennas do?
An array of built-in antennas combined with a switching algorithm: the access point continuously assesses the environment and device density, then selects the coverage direction that gives each device the best signal, while reducing interference.
Do you need a controller to deploy AP266 units in a hotel?
Three modes coexist: local configuration through the EasyWeb interface, management by a WAC controller, or remote management through the HUAWEI eKit app and the SNC platform. In cloud mode, pre-shared key or portal authentication works without a dedicated server.
How can a series of AP266 units be commissioned without configuring them one by one?
The HUAWEI eKit app offers two ways: connecting to the access point's management Wi-Fi, or scanning the serial number printed on the chassis. The access point then registers with the platform on its own and is configured remotely.
Does the AP266 support WPA3 and server-based authentication?
Yes: WPA3-SAE, WPA3-802.1X, WPA2-PSK, MAC address or portal authentication, and 802.11w protected management frames, which block forced-deauthentication attacks. Communication with the controller is encrypted with DTLS.
How do you prevent a guest from seeing devices in other rooms?
Through station isolation within the same VLAN, complemented by assigning one VLAN per SSID and by access control lists. On the wired side, DHCP snooping, dynamic ARP inspection and IP Source Guard block address spoofing from a wall socket.
Can you limit a user's bandwidth on the AP266?
Yes, a rate limit can be set per user, and adaptive bandwidth management adjusts the allocation according to the number of connected users and radio conditions. Airtime scheduling prevents a slow device from slowing down all the others.
Does the connection hold when moving from one room to another?
Yes: roaming relies on 802.11k, 802.11v and 802.11r. The device switches to the neighbouring access point without re-authenticating, which preserves a call or video conference in progress in a corridor.
Is the equipment new and covered by a warranty?
