What does the AP265E's wall-plate format offer compared with a ceiling-mounted access point?
It brings Wi-Fi and wired connections together in one place: one Gigabit uplink port and four Gigabit downlink ports in an 86 × 160 × 38 mm housing, mounted on a wall, on a desk, on the ceiling or on a flush-mounting box. A hotel room or a workstation is cabled and covered by a single device.
Can the AP265E's four ports power an IP phone over the network?
The uplink port is the one that receives PoE, and it is this port that powers the access point. The four downlink ports carry data at 10/100/1000 Mbps: an IP phone or a camera that needs power over the network should therefore be connected to a PoE port on the switch.
What power supply do you need for the AP265E?
A PoE 802.3af port is enough: the access point draws 9.4 W maximum, well below the 15.4 W of the standard. A single network cable therefore delivers both power and data to the room or the workstation.
How many devices can the AP265E handle at the same time?
128 devices maximum, and up to 16 separate Wi-Fi networks. It is sized for a room, a treatment room or a workstation — not for a reception hall, where a high-capacity ceiling-mounted access point remains better suited.
How does the AP265E reach 2.4 Gbps on the 5 GHz band?
Through 160 MHz channels, four spatial streams (two per band) and Wi-Fi 6 1024-QAM modulation, which carries 25% more data than Wi-Fi 5's 256-QAM. The advertised total data rate reaches 2.975 Gbps, of which 575 Mbps is on the 2.4 GHz band.
What are the AP265E's smart antennas?
An array of built-in antennas with 4 dBi on each band, combined with a switching algorithm: the access point continuously assesses the environment and device density, then selects the coverage direction that gives each client the best signal, while reducing interference.
Do you need a controller to deploy AP265E units in a hotel?
Three modes coexist: local configuration through the EasyWeb interface, management by a WAC controller, or remote management through the HUAWEI eKit app and the SNC platform. In cloud mode, pre-shared key or portal authentication works without a controller or dedicated server.
How can you commission access points without configuring them one by one?
The HUAWEI eKit app offers two ways: connecting to the access point's management Wi-Fi, or scanning the serial number printed on the chassis. The access point then registers with the platform on its own and is configured remotely — useful when installing several dozen in a row.
Does the AP265E support WPA3 and server-based authentication?
Yes: WPA3-SAE, WPA3-802.1X, WPA2-PSK, MAC address or portal authentication, and 802.11w protected management frames, which block forced-deauthentication attacks. Communication with the controller is encrypted with DTLS.
Can each room be given a different Wi-Fi password?
Yes, the access point supports PPSK — one pre-shared key per user on the same network — when it is managed by a controller in Fit AP mode. Each occupant then receives their own key, which can be revoked without changing the key for the whole establishment.
How do you prevent a guest from seeing devices in other rooms?
Through station isolation within the same VLAN, complemented by assigning one VLAN per SSID and by IPv4/IPv6 access control lists. On the wired side, DHCP snooping, dynamic ARP inspection and IP Source Guard block address spoofing from a wall socket.
Can you limit a user's bandwidth on the AP265E?
Yes, a rate limit can be set per user, and adaptive bandwidth management automatically adjusts the allocation according to the number of connected users and radio conditions. Airtime scheduling also prevents a slow device from slowing down all the others.
Can the AP265E be installed at high altitude or in a healthcare facility?
It operates from 0 to 40 °C and up to 5,000 m altitude, with the maximum permitted temperature decreasing by 1 °C for every 300 m above 1,800 m. It also complies with the EN 60601-1-1 and EN 60601-1-2 standards, which cover the electromagnetic compatibility of medical equipment.
Is the equipment new and covered by a warranty?
