Can the RG-RAP62-OD really be installed outdoors?
Yes, its casing is rated IP65: dust-tight and tested under 12.5 litres of water per minute sprayed from 2.5 m. It operates from -30 to +65 °C and has 4 kV lightning protection, which allows installation on a building façade, under a covered yard or on a pole.
How many devices does this access point serve depending on the channel width chosen?
The recommended number depends on the radio setting: 110 clients with 160 MHz channels (16 on 2.4 GHz and 94 on 5 GHz), 80 with 80 MHz channels, and only 40 if your devices are still on Wi-Fi 5. The absolute maximum is 512 associated devices.
What area does the RG-RAP62-OD cover in practice?
The stated optimal coverage is 150 m², with a maximum range of 300 m on the 5 GHz band and 100 m on 2.4 GHz in open space. Use the 150 m² figure to size a terrace, a courtyard or a car park: the maximum ranges assume no obstacles whatsoever.
Do you need a PoE+ switch to power the RG-RAP62-OD?
It accepts PoE 802.3af, PoE+ 802.3at and passive PoE, at both 24 V and 48 V, for less than 16 W of power consumption. Since this consumption exceeds the 15.4 W of an 802.3af port, a PoE+ port remains the safe choice to get full power.
Is a power adapter supplied with this access point?
No, and the access point does not even have a DC power input: PoE is its only power option. So you will need an injector or a PoE switch, neither of which is included in the box.
Where can the RG-RAP62-OD be mounted?
On a wall or a pole, with the kit supplied; it is not designed for ceiling mounting. Its compact casing of 200 × 70 × 35 mm, weighing under 400 g, stays discreet on a façade or a lamp post.
Do you need a 160 MHz channel to reach the stated 2,401 Mbps?
Yes. The 5 GHz band accepts 20, 40, 80 or 160 MHz channels, and it is at 160 MHz that the maximum data rate is reached — with a higher recommended number of clients, but at the cost of a spectrum that saturates more quickly. The 2.4 GHz band tops out at 573 Mbps at 40 MHz.
Does the RG-RAP62-OD support WPA3?
Yes: WPA3-SAE, WPA2-PSK/WPA3-SAE mixed mode so as not to exclude older devices, and OWE, which encrypts an open network without a password. On top of that come 802.1X, DHCP snooping and static allow or block lists.
Is the Wi-Fi 6 TWT power-saving feature supported?
No, Target Wake Time, which schedules when connected devices wake up to save their battery, is not supported. The other Wi-Fi 6 features are all there: OFDMA, OFDMA subcarriers and 2×2 MU-MIMO on each of the two bands.
Can you cover a distant area without running a network cable to it?
Yes, with Reyee Mesh: a second access point connects over the air to the wired one, with mesh management built in. It still needs its PoE power supply on site, but the network cable no longer has to be run.
Can you set up a bandwidth-limited guest network on this access point?
Yes: it has a built-in standalone captive portal and bandwidth limiting. Up to 8 Wi-Fi networks can coexist, with VLANs, Layer 2 client isolation and the option of using the same SSID on different VLANs.
Can the RG-RAP62-OD act as a router at an isolated site?
Yes, it operates in access point mode or router mode, with DHCP server, network address translation, static IP address and PPPoE connection. A villa, a shop or a remote site can rely on it alone to handle the connection.
Does the connection hold when moving between several Reyee access points?
Yes: roaming works at Layer 2 as well as Layer 3, with 802.11k, 802.11v, 802.11r and cloud algorithm-assisted roaming. The device switches to the best access point without re-authentication or session interruption.
Is the equipment new and covered by a warranty?
