What is the real battery life with noise cancelling on, and with it off?
With active noise cancelling on: 8 h of listening per charge and 32 h in total with the case. With it off, you get 12 h per charge and 48 h in total. The case provides three full recharges of the earbuds.
How long does a full recharge take?
2 hours for a full charge. Each earbud has a 55 mAh lithium-ion battery and the case a 545 mAh one, the reserve that provides the three recharges. Power input is 5 V / 1 A, via the supplied USB-C cable.
Does the IP54 rating also protect the charging case?
No: IP54 covers the earbuds only. You can wear them in rainy or windy weather, but the charging case is not covered by this water and dust protection. The earbuds are rated for a maximum operating temperature of 45 °C.
What exactly is in the box?
The pair of earbuds, the charging case, a USB-C charging cable, three sizes of sealing ear tips plus one size of open ear tips, the quick start guide and the warranty booklet. As the cable is supplied, there is no extra accessory to buy.
Why two types of ear tips, and which should you choose?
The hybrid design gives two sound signatures. The sealing ear tips, in three sizes, improve passive noise isolation and shut out the world; the open ear tips keep you aware of your surroundings, which makes all the difference on a bike or in an open-plan office.
How can I tell whether the earbuds fit my ears properly?
The JBL Headphones app checks your fit and tells you whether the ear tip you chose is the right one. At 4.4 g per earbud and with three sizes of sealing tips, you quickly find the combination that stays in without pressing — the case itself weighs just 32.9 g.
Can they connect to two devices at the same time?
Yes, that is multipoint connection: you can watch a video on your tablet and take a call coming in on your smartphone without re-pairing anything. On Android, Google Fast Pair pairs the device with a single tap. The link uses Bluetooth 5.3, with the A2DP, AVRCP and HFP profiles.
What is the difference between the Ambient Aware and TalkThru modes?
Ambient Aware controls how much outside sound you let in, so you can hear an announcement or keep an eye on traffic. TalkThru goes further: it lets you talk to the people around you without removing the earbuds. Both are controlled with the touch controls or from the JBL Headphones app.
Do calls stay clear outdoors, in windy weather?
Yes, thanks to six microphones: two beamforming external mics on each earbud pick up your voice, and an internal mic isolates noise. Ambient noise reduction and echo cancellation algorithms do the rest, even outdoors. The app lets you adjust what you and the people you are talking to hear.
Can you reconfigure the touch controls and customise the sound?
Yes. The free JBL Headphones app lets you reassign gestures, adjust the noise cancelling level, adapt the output for audio or video, and calibrate the sound curve to your hearing profile with Personi-Fi 3.0. It also helps you find lost earbuds.
Does spatial sound work with any source?
Yes: JBL Spatial Sound turns stereo sound from any source or device into a more immersive listening experience, whether a playlist, a film or a game. Behind it, 12 mm dynamic drivers deliver the Pure Bass signature, with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
Are the JBL Tune Flex 2 new and under warranty?
Yes: a new, genuine product in its original packaging, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the 1-year warranty document. The manufacturer's warranty booklet is included in the box, and full specifications are in the JBL datasheet (PDF).
