Do the JBL Sense Lite need to be pushed into the ear?

No: JBL OpenSound technology works by air conduction and leaves the ear canal open. Nothing goes into the ear, which removes the feeling of pressure that some people cannot bear with conventional in-ear earbuds.

Can you wear them in an open-plan office without disturbing your colleagues?

That is the aim: the precise fit of these earbuds is designed to eliminate sound leakage, so your conversations stay private. The open design then stops being a social compromise — you can turn up the volume without broadcasting it around you.

How long do the black Sense Lite last?

Up to 8 h from the earbuds alone, plus 24 h in the case, making 32 h in total. On calls, allow 5 h. And 10 minutes of charging give back 3 h of listening; a full charge takes 2 h.

Does the ear hook suit every ear shape?

It is made of ultra-soft liquid silicone with a shape-memory wire that you bend once and for all. The model is specifically designed to deliver the right listening angle and low sound leakage across the widest range of ear shapes and sizes.

Can you use just one earbud?

Yes, thanks to Dual Connect: the two earbuds can be worn together or separately, either one. Handy for keeping one ear free in a meeting, or for charging the unused earbud while listening with the other.

Do these earbuds block out ambient noise?

No, which is consistent with an open design: nothing seals the ear canal. The advertised noise reduction applies to calls — it cleans up what the person you are talking to hears, not what you hear from the street.

Do calls sound good when walking outdoors?

Two beamforming microphones per earbud, four in total, focus pickup on your voice. The hydrodynamic windproof design greatly reduces distortion caused by air friction: this is precisely the point that was worked on for making calls outdoors.

Can they handle sweat and rain?

They are rated IP54: protected against dust and against water splashes from any direction. A little sweat during a workout or light rain is therefore no problem for your daily run.

Can an open design deliver bass?

These earbuds rely on 18 × 11 mm drivers, large for this format, and on an adaptive bass boost algorithm that strengthens the low end according to the volume. This is the answer to the main compromise of open-ear listening.

What does the JBL Headphones app let you do?

Two things above all: a 10-band equaliser to create your own sound signature, and reprogramming of the touch controls on each earbud, music and calls included. It is not needed for listening, only for customising.

Can they be connected to two devices at once?

Yes, multipoint connection handles two Bluetooth devices simultaneously and switches from one to the other without re-pairing. The link uses Bluetooth 5.4, and Google Fast Pair pairs your Android device as soon as the case is opened.

How much do the Sense Lite weigh?

9.5 g per earbud, or 19 g for the pair, with the weight evenly balanced so they can be worn all day. The charging case weighs 64.5 g. The stated maximum operating temperature is 45 °C.
