How long do the JBL Wave Buds 2 last with noise cancelling on?
Up to 8 hours from the earbuds alone, with noise cancelling on, versus 10 hours with it off, for 40 hours in total with the case. On calls, allow 5.5 hours with ANC and 6 hours without.
What if I head out with flat earbuds?
10 minutes of charging gives you back 3 hours of playback. A full charge from empty takes 2 hours. The case holds a 550 mAh reserve, versus 49 mAh per earbud — it does all the heavy lifting between outings.
Does the IP54 rating also cover the charging case?
No, and the difference is worth knowing: the earbuds are rated IP54, the case only IPX2. The earbuds can handle rain and dust; the case only tolerates a few drops and should be kept sheltered.
What is in the box of the Wave Buds 2?
The earbuds, the charging case, a USB Type-C charging cable, three sizes of ear tips, the warranty booklet and the quick start guide. As the cable is included, there is nothing else you need.
Can you control how much outside noise you hear?
Yes, that is what Smart Ambient is for: it lets you choose how much outside noise you let in, without ever taking the earbuds out. Active noise cancelling does the opposite, by reducing the surrounding sound.
Are they discreet to wear?
4.5 g per earbud, or 9 g for the pair, in a 21.6 × 15.8 × 20.4 mm form factor. The case measures 68.9 × 26.7 × 37 mm and weighs 35 g: it fits in a jeans pocket without leaving a bulge.
What are calls like outdoors?
Four mics pick up your voice, with processing designed for outdoor use. That is where earbuds prove themselves: on a busy street or in windy weather, where a single mic gets drowned out by the surroundings.
Is pairing quick on Android as well as on PC?
Yes, on both: these earbuds support Google Fast Pair for Android and Microsoft Swift Pair for Windows. Multipoint connection also lets you keep two devices connected at the same time, over Bluetooth 5.3.
How good are the 8 mm drivers?
It is a compact diameter, offset by a high sensitivity of 110 dB at 1 kHz at 16 ohms and a 20 Hz to 20 kHz response. The maximum sound pressure level is 95 dB, and the signature remains JBL Pure Bass sound, with pronounced bass.
What does the JBL Headphones app offer?
An equaliser to tailor the sound to your taste, and a Relax mode to unwind at the end of the day. It is not needed to listen: the earbuds work as soon as they are paired, and the app is there for personalisation.
