How does the JBL Charge 5 produce its 40 W?
With a 52 x 90 mm woofer rated at 30 W RMS and a 20 mm tweeter of 10 W RMS, backed by two bass radiators at the ends. The range covered is 60 Hz to 20 kHz, with a signal-to-noise ratio above 80 dB.
What are the battery life and charging time of the Charge 5?
Up to 20 hours of listening depending on volume and content, from a 27 Wh lithium-ion polymer battery (3.6 V / 7,500 mAh). A full recharge takes 4 hours at 5 V / 3 A — a recent phone charger will do the job.
Can the JBL Charge 5 charge a phone?
Yes, that is where its name comes from: its USB Type-C port delivers 5 V / 2 A at most to power a device without interrupting the music. This charge is drawn from the twenty hours of stated battery life.
Can two phones stay connected to the Charge 5?
Yes: up to two smartphones or tablets stay paired at the same time and take turns controlling the music. No one needs to cut the other's connection to start their track.
What does the Charge 5's IP67 certification cover?
The 6 means complete protection against dust, and therefore sand, and the 7 temporary immersion. Rain, a spilled drink or a dip in the water won't stop it: this is the protection you would expect from a beach or pool speaker.
Can several JBL speakers be paired with the Charge 5?
Yes, with PartyBoost: two compatible speakers pair in stereo, or several can be linked to cover a larger space. The connection uses Bluetooth 5.1, with the A2DP 1.3 and AVRCP 1.6 profiles.
What are the dimensions of the Charge 5, and what comes in the box?
223 x 96.5 x 94 mm and 960 g, roughly a one-litre bottle lying on its side. The box contains the speaker, a USB Type-C cable, the safety sheet, the quick start guide and the warranty card.
Is the speaker new and covered by a warranty?
