Does this StreamSet connect via XLR or USB?
Via XLR: the microphone outputs balanced XLR to your audio interface or mixing console, and a dedicated 3.5 mm headphone jack brings back the monitor feed. A single unit for listening and speaking.
Can the mic boom be removed from the headset?
Yes, it is detachable and compatible with the Audio-Technica M-Series: once removed, you have a standard ATH-M50x. So you are buying two products in one.
What difference does a dynamic cardioid microphone make for recording?
Its tight pickup pattern captures what is in front of it — your voice — and rejects headphone bleed, room noise and keyboard noise. That is what lets you record cleanly without an acoustically treated booth.
Is the headset really the studio M50x?
Yes: the closed-back design of the ATH-M50x, 45 mm drivers with neodymium magnets and a stated frequency response of 15 Hz to 28 kHz, at 38 ohms impedance. It is the reference sound engineers have been using for ten years.
Does the headset isolate enough for monitoring in a booth?
That is what it is made for: passive isolation from its closed-back design, intended for booth monitoring. It pays off twice — you hear the monitor feed, and the cardioid microphone does not pick it up.
What uses is this headset designed for?
Podcasting, broadcasting, streaming and voice-over: a single unit delivers broadcast-quality voice and studio monitoring, with no separate microphone interface and no gain to adjust between two devices.
What is in the box of the ATH-M50x StreamSet XLR?
The headset, a 1.2 m XLR/headphone cable, a 6.35 mm jack adapter and a carrying pouch. The 6.35 mm adapter is the one required by studio consoles and interfaces.
