The AT2010 is a handheld cardioid condenser microphone designed for vocals on stage. It uses the low-mass 16 mm diaphragm of the AT2020, the studio microphone of the same 20 Series, for soloists, jazz vocals and houses of worship, wherever articulation matters.

An articulate voice, all the way to the back row

The response runs from 40 Hz to 20 kHz, with fast transient response: consonants stay crisp and the voice keeps its natural character. The cardioid pattern isolates the singer from side and rear sounds. The multi-layer grille protects against plosives and sibilance without dulling the highs, and the microphone handles 136 dB SPL for a 113 dB dynamic range.

Built for the stage

The body is all metal, and the XLR connector contacts are gold-plated and corrosion-resistant. The AT8470 Quiet-Flex clamp lets you place the microphone on a stand, silently and at any angle; it screws onto a 5/8"-27 thread, with a 3/8"-16 adapter supplied. A pouch protects the microphone in transport.

Unlike a dynamic microphone, the AT2010 only works with 48 V phantom power (2 mA), to be switched on at the mixer or the interface. No XLR cable is supplied.

It shares its diaphragm with the AT2020, the studio microphone of the series. See also the Microphone department and the Audio-Technica range.

Is the AT2010 a dynamic microphone?
No, it is a condenser microphone in a handheld format, with the same 16 mm diaphragm as the AT2020 studio microphone. It brings the clarity of the 20 Series studio microphones to the stage, but it must receive 48 V phantom power through its XLR cable, supplied by the mixer or the audio interface.
What uses is the AT2010 intended for?
For vocals on stage, when articulation matters: soloists, jazz vocals, houses of worship. Its cardioid pattern reduces what comes from the sides and rear, and its multi-layer grille protects against plosives and sibilance without dulling the highs.
What is in the AT2010 box?
The microphone, an AT8470 Quiet-Flex clamp for 5/8"-27 threaded stands, a threaded adapter to 3/8"-16 and a protective pouch. No XLR cable is supplied: plan for a balanced 3-pin one to connect it to the mixer or the interface.
What power does the AT2010 need?
48 V DC phantom power, of which the microphone draws 2 mA typical. The mixer, the audio interface or the preamp supplies it on its XLR input; an external phantom power supply, such as Audio-Technica's AT8801, also does the job. The microphone has neither a battery nor a USB port.
Does the AT2010 have anything in common with the AT2020?
Yes, its diaphragm. The AT2010 uses the low-mass 16 mm diaphragm of the AT2020, a side-address studio microphone. It places it in a handheld microphone body, with a multi-layer anti-pop grille and a 40 Hz to 20 kHz response suited to vocals on stage.
