Non-contractual photos

The visuals on this page are supplied by the manufacturer. They are frequently produced for a whole range — not for the exact model you are viewing: what you see in the photo is never a promise of what is included.

No exchange, return or cancellation will be accepted on the grounds that something seen in a photo (accessory, port, colour, keyboard layout, packaging…) is not found on the delivered product. Only the specifications written on the page are binding for the order.

What the image does not guarantee:

  • Staging : microphone stand, boom arm, pop filter, mounts and ambient speakers photographed are not included unless stated.
  • Quantity : the number of speakers or channels visible in the image does not necessarily match the set sold.
  • Cables and tips : the cables, adapters, ear tips and cases supplied are those listed in the specifications.
  • Specifications : Bluetooth, jack socket, USB, noise cancellation and battery life cannot be read from a photo.
  • Colour : one image often serves several colours, and the shade you see depends on studio lighting as much as on your screen settings; the colour sold is the one in the title and the specifications.
  • Props and accessories : the items shown around the product (cables, stands, decorative objects, content displayed on screen) are not included unless explicitly stated.
  • Packaging : boxes, labels and bundles change with the manufacturer's revisions: the packaging delivered may differ from the one in the photo.

What is binding: the product title, this page's technical specifications, the description and, when provided, the manufacturer's PDF datasheet available in the downloads.

Description

PreSonus M7 MKII · Reference 2777300102

A first studio mic,
complete out of the box.

The M7 MKII is aimed at singers, musicians and podcasters equipping themselves on a modest budget. Its condenser capsule gives a voice warmth at the top of the spectrum, and the box holds everything needed to start recording right away.

PreSonus M7 MKII microphone mounted on a stand in a studio
  • 25 mmelectret capsule
  • 134 dB SPLmaximum level
  • 48 Vphantom power
  • 3 mXLR cable included

It captures what you show it

Its cardioid pattern clearly records the source it is pointed at and plays down sounds coming from elsewhere. It is a side-address mic: you speak to it from the front, on the side of the body, not into the top of the grille.

Black PreSonus M7 MKII condenser microphone on its rigid mount

Tough enough for a snare drum

With 134 dB SPL handling, the M7 MKII is not limited to vocals: it takes a cracking snare drum or a cranked electric guitar amp, two loud sources that more expensive mics cannot always handle. The same mic therefore covers vocals, guitar and podcasts.

Its output is XLR: it connects to an audio interface or a mixer that supplies 48 V phantom power, itself connected to the computer. Rigid mount, XLR cable and case are in the box; the mic stand is not.

Compare it with the other models in our microphones department, equip the rest of your setup in studio, podcast and music production, or browse the PreSonus range.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Is the PreSonus M7 MKII a dynamic or a condenser microphone?
A condenser: a 25 mm electret capsule, side-address, with a cardioid pattern. It therefore needs 48 V phantom power, which most audio interfaces and mixers provide on their XLR inputs. In return, it captures more detail than a dynamic mic, with warm highs that flatter the voice.
Can the M7 MKII be plugged straight into a computer via USB?
No, its output is XLR: it connects to an audio interface or a mixer with 48 V phantom power, which in turn connects to the computer. The 3 m XLR cable is in the box, along with the stand mount and carrying case, so you can record straight out of the box.
What uses is the M7 MKII designed for?
For vocals, guitar and podcasts, for singers, musicians and podcasters who are starting out. Its cardioid pattern records what you point it at and plays down the rest, and its 134 dB SPL handling also lets it capture a snare drum or a loud guitar amp without difficulty.
What is in the PreSonus M7 MKII box?
The M7 MKII microphone, a rigid stand mount, a 3 m XLR cable and a carrying case. The mic stand, shock mount and pop filter are not included; for vocals, a pop filter placed in front of the capsule reduces plosives.
What maximum sound level does the M7 MKII accept?
134 dB SPL, for 1% distortion at 1 kHz. That is enough to place the mic in front of a cracking snare drum or a cranked guitar amp, loud sources that more expensive mics cannot always handle. Its sensitivity is -38 dB ±3 dB (0 dB = 1 V/Pa) and its output impedance 150 ohms.
