What is the toner yield of the imageRUNNER 1643i II?
The T06 toner is rated at approximately 20,500 A4 pages at 5% coverage. For an A4 office machine, that is a high-end yield: at 2,000 pages a month, one cartridge lasts nearly ten months. It is a recyclable all-in-one cartridge, combining toner and wear parts in a single unit.
Does the imageRUNNER 1643i II's document feeder read both sides in a single pass?
Yes, it is a 50-sheet single-pass duplex document feeder. When sending, allow for 70 images per minute in black and white for a double-sided original, compared with 38 for single-sided: processing both sides here is faster than running them through separately.
Does the imageRUNNER 1643i II's scanner scan in colour?
Yes, even though printing is monochrome. When sending, allow for 38 images per minute in black and white versus 13 in colour for a single-sided original, and 70 versus 26 in duplex. Scans can be sent to e-mail, an SMB 3.0 share, FTP, WebDAV, a USB flash drive or the cloud.
Can fax be added to the imageRUNNER 1643i II?
Yes, as an option: the “i” version has no built-in fax, but a Super G3 board can be fitted to add the function. Internet fax via SMTP, on the other hand, is available as standard, with no additional hardware or dedicated phone line.
Can you place a book or a three-dimensional object on the 1643i II's glass?
Yes. The glass accepts a sheet, an open book and three-dimensional objects up to 20 mm thick — a card in its sleeve, a badge, a small case. It is a detail rarely given, and it saves you forcing the lid down on a thick original.
How many sheets can the imageRUNNER 1643i II hold?
650 sheets as standard: a 550-sheet cassette and a 100-sheet multi-purpose tray. Up to three 550-sheet PF-C1 paper feeders can be added, bringing the total to 2,300 sheets, each one powered from the main unit. Output remains limited to 150 sheets.
Which papers can go through the 1643i II's multi-purpose tray?
From 60 to 199 g/m²: thin, plain, heavy, coloured, recycled and bond paper, labels, and No. 10, Monarch, ISO-C5 and DL envelopes, in custom sizes from 76.2 × 127 to 216 × 355.6 mm. The cassette and automatic duplex printing, for their part, stop at 120 g/m².
How does the imageRUNNER 1643i II connect to the network?
Via Gigabit Ethernet 1000Base-T, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n or Wi-Fi Direct connection, which lets a mobile device connect to it without going through the company network. Two USB host ports complete the set, for a USB flash drive or a badge reader.
Can you print from Google Drive or OneDrive on the 1643i II?
Yes, cloud connectivity is built in: Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and uniFLOW Online can be accessed from the 12.7 cm colour touchscreen, for scanning as well as printing. Direct printing from a USB flash drive accepts TIFF, JPEG and PDF files.
Is the PostScript driver supplied with the imageRUNNER 1643i II?
Yes, as standard. The installed languages are UFR II, PCL 6, PCL 5 and Adobe PostScript 3. A workstation sending layout files therefore needs no additional kit. Printing features include watermark, header and footer, poster mode and toner saving.
What speed does the imageRUNNER 1643i II reach in duplex?
36 pages per minute in A4 duplex, compared with 43 single-sided. The machine is ready 14 seconds after power-on and in 4 seconds or less when waking from sleep; the first copy from the glass comes out in 6.3 seconds.
How much space should you allow for the imageRUNNER 1643i II?
480 × 464 × 452 mm for approximately 19 kg without toner: it fits on a low cabinet or a trolley. Allow 480 × 905 mm of clear space with the cassette open. A fitted PF-C1 feeder adds height and brings the whole unit to 842 mm.
