Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the TL-SG108 need any configuration?
No: it is an unmanaged switch, with no interface or settings. It works as soon as it is plugged in. Auto MDI/MDIX adapts to each cable, straight-through or crossover, and auto-negotiation detects the speed of the connected device.
What does the metal case of this model bring?
Better durability and superior heat dissipation compared with an equivalent plastic case: the metal draws heat away, which matters for equipment left on permanently. It measures 158 × 101 × 25 mm and sits on a desk or mounts on a wall.
How is this switch powered, and how much power does it use?
By an external 9 V / 0.6 A power adapter, supplied with the installation guide. Consumption peaks at 3.31 W at 220 V/50 Hz, and green technology adjusts it further according to link status and cable length.
Does this small switch support jumbo frames?
Yes, up to 16 KB, which is generous for an unmanaged model: large transfers to a NAS then need fewer packets. Throughput reaches 11.9 Mpps with a switching capacity of 16 Gbps.
Is this switch noisy?
Not at all: it has no fan, as cooling is handled by the metal case. Nothing to clean, no moving parts — it can stay in a living area, a meeting room or a closed cabinet.
How many devices can this switch keep track of?
Its address table holds 4,000 MAC addresses, far more than an office or home network puts into circulation. All eight Gigabit ports can work at once, each adjusting to 10, 100 or 1,000 Mbps.
Is the switch new, and where can I view its datasheet?
