Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the TL-SG1005D need any configuration?
No: it works as soon as it is plugged in, with no interface or settings. Auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX adapt automatically to the cable as well as to the speed of the connected device — straight-through or crossover, it makes no difference.
How much space does this switch take up, and where can it be installed?
140 × 88 × 23 mm, fanless: it sits on a desk, slips behind a monitor or mounts on a wall. It is completely silent, with no moving parts and no maintenance required.
How much power does this switch use?
2.41 W at most at 220 V/50 Hz, on an external 5 V / 0.6 A power adapter supplied with the installation guide. Green technology shuts down inactive ports and adjusts power to cable length.
Is this switch suitable for large file transfers?
Yes: its five Gigabit ports are designed for large transfers — graphics files, CAD, multimedia — to a server or a NAS. Switching capacity reaches 10 Gbps, i.e. wire speed on all five ports.
How much energy does the green technology save?
Up to 85%, by shutting down ports whose device is switched off and adapting power to the length of the connected cable. On a switch that is always on, the savings add up over the year.
Is the switch new, and where can I view its datasheet?
