Frequently asked questions about this product

Can the TL-SG105 be configured?
No: it is an unmanaged switch, with no interface or settings. It starts switching as soon as it is powered on. Auto MDI/MDI-X corrects the pinout automatically and auto-negotiation detects the speed of each device — 10, 100 or 1,000 Mbps.
How much power does this small switch use, and how is it powered?
2.43 W at most, for 8.29 BTU/h of heat — the equivalent of a night light. It runs on an external 9 V / 0.6 A power adapter, supplied with the device and connected via a barrel jack.
Does this 5-port model support jumbo frames?
Yes, up to 16,000 bytes, with 1 MB of buffer memory and store-and-forward mode, which discards damaged frames. Switching capacity reaches 10 Gbps, for 7.4 Mpps.
Does this switch handle multicast video streams?
Yes, through IGMP snooping, and quality of service is also supported: packets marked as priority by devices go first. Flow control limits losses when a port is saturated.
How much space does this switch take up, and under what conditions does it operate?
99.8 × 97.8 × 25 mm: the size of a deck of cards. It operates from 0 to 40 °C, at 10 to 90% humidity, and stores 2,000 MAC addresses — far more than an office or home needs.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. This is the TP-Link TL-SG105, version V4, CE, FCC and RoHS certified, with no power over the network cable and no 10 Gigabit support.
