Frequently asked questions about this product

Are the ports on the LS1008 Gigabit?
No: all eight ports run at 10/100 Mbps. It is a Fast Ethernet switch, intended for devices that do not need Gigabit — a printer, an IP phone, an entry-level camera. Switching capacity is 1.6 Gbps.
Can this switch be configured?
No: it is unmanaged, with no interface and no settings. Auto MDI/MDI-X corrects the pinout on its own, auto-negotiation recognises the speed of each device and flow control limits losses when the network is saturated.
How much power does this switch use, and how is it powered?
2.64 W maximum, giving off 9 BTU/h of heat. It runs on an external 5 V / 0.6 A power adapter, supplied with the device and connected via a barrel jack.
How much space does this switch take up?
124.6 × 48.7 × 22.8 mm for a plastic casing weighing 170 grams packaged — one of the most compact in its category. Wall mounting, however, is not supported: it sits on a piece of furniture or behind another device.
Does this Fast Ethernet model support jumbo frames?
Yes, up to 2,000 bytes, with 0.75 MB of buffer memory and store-and-forward mode. The MAC address table holds 2,000 entries, well beyond home or small-office use.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. This is the TP-Link LS1008, version V1, CE, FCC and RoHS certified, which operates from 0 to 40 °C at 10 to 90% humidity.
