Frequently asked questions about this product

Should you go for the UC or the MS version of the Engage 40?
This part number is the UC version, certified for Google Meet, Zoom and Works With Chromebook. The MS version is the one you need if your company works on Microsoft Teams: the headset is the same, the certification follows the platform.
Is this Engage 40 mono or stereo?
It is the mono version, with a single ear cup: the other ear stays free to hear the team and the supervisor, which is what most contact centres look for. It is rated at 45 g on the head.
Why are there two microphones on the Engage 40’s boom?
Each has its own role: the first removes background noise, the second reproduces your voice. This division of tasks makes it possible to hold a clear conversation from a busy call-centre floor, and makes text transcription of the audio possible.
What does the Engage+ software add to this headset?
It analyses calls in real time and displays recommendations during the conversation: background noise level, periods of silence, interruptions and overlapping speech. It gives you an objective view of what is weighing on the customer experience.
Can the control unit buttons be programmed?
Yes. They integrate with contact centre platforms — Amazon Connect, Genesys, NICE CXone — to trigger an action in one click, such as calling a supervisor. Two speed-dial numbers can be set up via Jabra Direct.
What is a “digital” headset at Jabra?
It is a headset whose processing chip is in the device itself, rather than in the control unit or the cord. The Engage 40 is one of them: it is this architecture that makes real-time call analysis possible.
How does this headset protect your hearing in a call centre?
With Jabra SafeTone 2.0, which combines five mechanisms: IntelliTone 2.0 for average exposure, PeakStop 105 dB against unexpected shocks, BalancedVoice on incoming calls, conversation level normalisation and proactive protection.
Can the busylight signal something other than a call?
Yes. It lights up automatically during calls, but its programming can be customised through SDK integration to flag other situations: an agent being assisted by a supervisor, after-call work, or availability to help a colleague.
Can this Engage 40 be plugged into a mobile phone?
This part number is the USB-A version with an in-line control unit: it is intended for computers, on Windows as well as macOS. At Jabra, connection to a mobile is reserved for the USB-C models without an in-line controller.
Do you need the control unit to access call analysis?
No. Real-time analysis remains available even when the headset is plugged directly into a laptop or a docking station. The headset can also be used with the Engage 50 II controller.
Can the Engage 40 UC handle intensive daily use?
It has been tested for mic boom rotation and impact resistance, for those days when the headset is pulled off in a hurry, moves from one desk to another and ends up at the bottom of a bag. Its textured ear cups reduce pressure on the ear.
