How many memory slots does this HP 250 G10 have, and can you add a module?
It has two SODIMM slots, of which only one is occupied by the 8 GB DDR4-3200 module supplied. You can therefore add a second module without discarding anything, and enable dual-channel along the way — a noticeable gain with the integrated graphics.
Is Windows installed on this laptop?
No. It ships with FreeDOS, so without Windows: allow for buying and installing a Windows licence, or installing a Linux distribution. This is the point not to miss before comparing its price with that of a machine supplied with an operating system already installed. Everything else — Core i5-1334U, 8 GB of DDR4 and a 512 GB NVMe SSD — is ready to use.
Can the battery be replaced the day it starts to weaken?
Not by you: the 3-cell 41 Wh Li-ion battery is internal and not customer-replaceable; replacing it is a maintenance job. The battery itself is covered by a one-year limited warranty.
How does it charge, and is the charger included?
It charges through its dedicated AC power jack, with the HP Smart 45 W external adapter that comes with the machine: nothing extra to buy. The USB Type-C port, for its part, handles data transfers at 5 Gbps and the connection of peripherals.
What ports does it have, and how do you connect it to the company network?
The connectivity comprises one USB Type-C and two USB Type-A ports at 5 Gbps, an HDMI 1.4b port, a headphone/microphone combo jack and the power jack. Networking is over 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5.3: a wired connection requires a USB to RJ-45 adapter. All three USB ports run at 5 Gbps; none is limited to USB 2.0.
Can you connect an external monitor to it, and is the cable included?
Yes, through the HDMI 1.4b port. However, the HDMI cable is sold separately: remember to order it if you plan to work on a second monitor or connect a projector in meetings. The built-in screen remains usable at the same time, giving you two work surfaces.
Is the 15.6-inch screen comfortable to use near a window or outdoors?
It is an anti-glare Full HD IPS panel, so it is readable from wide angles and not prone to reflections, but its 250-nit brightness remains modest in direct sunlight. With 45% NTSC coverage, it is clearly aimed at office work rather than photo editing or colour work.
Is the keyboard AZERTY, and does it have a numeric keypad?
Yes: a full-size French AZERTY keyboard with numeric keypad, handy for accounting entries or spreadsheets. It is a large textured chiclet keyboard, and the touchpad supports multi-touch gestures, with taps enabled by default.
Is there a DVD drive?
No, no optical drive is supplied: the chassis measures 1.86 cm thick and weighs from 1.52 kg. An external USB drive remains the answer if you still need to read or burn CDs and DVDs, plugged into one of the two USB Type-A ports. Storage is provided by a 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD.
Can this HP 250 G10 run games or 3D applications?
No, there is no dedicated graphics card: display is handled by the Intel Iris Xe graphics integrated into the processor. The Core i5-1334U is a low-power U-series chip, with 10 cores and 12 threads up to 4.6 GHz, built for office work, web browsing and video conferencing. It will benefit most from a second memory module.
Is this laptop rugged enough to be carried around every day?
It has been subjected to MIL-STD 810 testing on hardware and systems, to meet HP durability standards. At from 1.52 kg for 36 × 23.6 × 1.86 cm and an 85% screen-to-body ratio, it slips easily into a bag every day.
Is it energy-efficient, and does it score well on environmental criteria?
It is ENERGY STAR certified and EPEAT Gold registered in the United States. Its construction includes 10% post-consumer recycled plastic and speaker enclosures made from plastic recovered from the environment. The inner packaging, made of moulded pulp, is 100% sustainably sourced and recyclable.
Are the webcam and microphone good enough for video conferencing?
Yes, for everyday use: an HD 720p camera, a built-in digital microphone and stereo speakers. The 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 provides a reliable connection in dense wireless environments, which matters as much as the camera during an online meeting.
Is the computer new and under warranty?
