Can you stay connected to your computer and your phone?
Yes, thanks to multipoint connection: two devices stay connected at the same time, and you switch from one to the other with a simple press. A video on your tablet no longer stops you from taking the call coming in on your mobile.
How long do they last with noise cancellation on?
Up to 10 h with the earbuds alone, noise cancellation on, and 40 h in total with the case. Without noise cancellation, you get 12 h and 48 h. The headline 48 h therefore assumes ANC is switched off.
What if I head out with flat earbuds?
15 minutes of charging gives 4 h of listening. That is the time it takes to have a coffee: enough to cover half a day without waiting for a full charge, and more than enough for a last-minute trip.
Can you hear your surroundings without taking them out?
Yes, with two separate modes: Ambient Aware lets outside sounds back in so you stay aware of what is around you, and TalkThru lets you exchange a few words without removing anything from your ear.
Can you wear them in the rain or while training?
Yes: they are rated IP54, water- and dust-resistant. The 5 covers dust ingress, the 4 splashing water from any direction — enough to handle a workout or a shower of rain.
How are calls handled?
By four microphones, hands-free and in stereo. That is the number that makes it possible to separate your voice from ambient noise: a single microphone gets drowned out as soon as you call from a street or an open-plan office.
How good are the Tune Buds drivers?
10 mm drivers with the JBL Pure Bass signature, with pronounced, unapologetic bass. Three sizes of ear tips are supplied: the ear tip determines the isolation, and therefore how present the low end really is.
Can you customise the sound?
Yes, in the JBL Headphones app, which lets you tailor the sound to your taste and set how the touch controls behave. The earbuds work without it: the app is for customising, not for getting started.
Are these JBL earbuds new and under warranty?
Yes, new and genuine, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for 1 year. Full specifications are given in the manufacturer's datasheet.
