Do the OpenWave go inside the ear canal?

No: Open Sound technology directs the sound pressure towards the ear without blocking it, and the design follows the curve of the outer ear. You can enjoy your music while staying aware of the traffic or an announcement in a station.

Can the people around me hear my music?

The design is aimed precisely at minimal sound leakage: the sound is directed into the ear rather than spread around it. That is the usual weak point of the open format, and the one this model has been worked on — at a reasonable volume, the people around you are not disturbed.

How long do the OpenWave last?

8 h of listening per charge in the earbuds, plus 17 h in the case, for 25 h in total. The earbuds charge fully in 1 h and the case in 1 h 30 min over USB-C — eight hours in a row covers a full working day.

Does the advertised noise reduction affect what I hear?

No: it works on the transmit side. The microphone's ENC system cleans up what the person you are talking to hears during a call; it does not shut out street noise for you — which would in any case go against the whole principle of the open format.

Do they stay in place during a workout?

Yes: the Secure-Fit system provides a discreet, secure fit during training, and the IPX5 rating covers sweat as well as splashing water. The open format is even an advantage outdoors, since you can still hear the traffic.

Can an open format deliver real bass?

The OpenWave rely on 13 mm dynamic drivers, a generous diameter at this size: a larger diaphragm moves more air, which partly makes up for the ear not being sealed. Expect 16 ohms of impedance across 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

Is the sound out of sync when watching a video?

The stated latency stays below 200 ms. On a video, most players compensate for this lag and the picture stays in sync; in a game where every sound counts, this level is still noticeable. These earbuds are aimed at music, calls and video.
