Does the AP32 broadcast on all three bands at the same time?
No: it is tri-band but dual-radio. You choose in the app which two bands it broadcasts on — 6 and 5 GHz for throughput, 2.4 and 6 GHz to balance range with the latest standard, or 2.4 and 5 GHz if your devices are not yet 6 GHz compatible.
What does the AP32's 6 GHz band bring?
Up to 2.4 Gbps on a spectrum reserved for Wi-Fi 6E compatible devices, so it is little congested by neighbouring networks or older equipment. Total wireless throughput reaches 2.8 Gbps.
How many devices can the AP32 serve?
Up to 75 devices, with two spatial streams on a 2x2 antenna array. That is the scale of an SME, a shop or a coworking space, not a lecture theatre — a point to check before sizing a site.
What power supply do you need for the AP32?
A class 4 PoE 802.3at or class 6 802.3bt port, or else a 12 V DC supply on its dedicated connector. Power consumption is 12.9 W on PoE and 11 W on an AC adapter.
Why does the AP32 have a 2.5 Gbps port?
Because its radios go beyond Gigabit: with 2.8 Gbps combined, a 1 Gbps port would become the bottleneck for demanding applications. The 2.5 Gbps port lifts that ceiling, provided the switch at the other end supports it too.
Do you need a controller to install the AP32?
No, everything is managed from the HPE Networking Instant On mobile app or web portal, both connected to the cloud: configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting can be done from anywhere, with no controller or server to install.
Can you turn off the AP32's LEDs in a meeting room?
Yes, a quiet mode turns off the status LEDs — useful in a bedroom, a meeting room or an office, where a blinking LED eventually becomes a distraction. The casing is also deliberately minimalist.
Does the AP32 help connected devices save battery?
Yes, Target Wake Time (TWT) sets up a communication schedule between each device and the access point, instead of leaving the device listening all the time. It is particularly well suited to sensors that only exchange data occasionally.
What level of security does the AP32 bring to the guest network?
WPA2 and WPA3, as well as Enhanced Open, which automatically encrypts sessions on an open network. You can also block certain types of traffic from the app, and see which destinations your devices are connecting to.
Is the mounting clip supplied with the AP32?
Yes, a ceiling or wall mounting clip is supplied. The access point also has a Kensington security lock and a button that serves both as a reset and to control the LEDs.
Is the equipment new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document for 1 year. The access point is Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 6E, which guarantees its interoperability with recent devices that use the 6 GHz band.
