Frequently asked questions about this product

What exactly does the IP67 rating of the Sony SRS-ULT10 cover?
Two separate protections. IPX7 means it withstands immersion at 1 m for 30 minutes, with the cap firmly closed; IP6X means it held up to 8 hours of agitation in dust with particles of up to 75 µm. It is also resistant to seawater.
Can you really wash the Sony ULT FIELD 1 speaker after a day at the beach?
Yes, rinsing is provided for by the manufacturer: full or partial washing depending on the type of dirt. One caveat, though — no detergent, thinner, benzine, alcohol or brush, which would damage the seals and diaphragms.
Under what conditions is the 12-hour battery life claimed?
With ULT POWER SOUND activated and the volume set to 25. That is an honest benchmark, boosted bass included: at a higher volume the playing time drops, just as it varies with the tracks, the temperature and usage. Charging is via the USB Type-C port.
What is the ULT button on the Sony SRS-ULT10 for?
It activates ULT POWER SOUND, a mode that boosts the bass at the press of a button. The low end relies on a side-mounted passive radiator whose placement has been optimised, and the Sound Diffusion Processor widens the sound dispersion to fill the room from a compact unit.
Can the speaker withstand the drops of everyday use?
It has passed a 1.22 m drop test onto 5 cm plywood, in accordance with the MIL-STD 810H-516.8 standard. The manufacturer sets a clear limit: deformation resulting from a drop can impair the water and dust resistance, which is not guaranteed in all circumstances.
Can two Sony ULT FIELD 1 speakers be paired in stereo?
Yes, two speakers link via Bluetooth for a true left and right channel. A detail that matters when buying: this stereo pairing is compatible only with ULT FIELD 1 wireless speakers, that is, with a second unit of the same model.
Can the speaker also be used for calls when working remotely?
Yes: the built-in microphone handles hands-free calls, with echo cancelling technology that stops the other person from hearing their own voice come back. The call audio then plays through the speaker, more comfortable than a phone's loudspeaker.
How do you stand or hang the Sony SRS-ULT10?
Upright or lying down — it is stable in both positions, which helps when space is tight. Its detachable multi-way strap lets you carry it by hand or hang it from a tree, handlebars or a parasol.
Is pairing with an Android phone simplified?
Yes, via Google Fast Pair: a single tap is enough from a phone running Android 6 or later. The Sony Music Center app then takes over to fine-tune the audio settings and manage your devices.
Is the speaker new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. A useful reminder for long-term durability: always close the charging port cap before using it near water, as it is what provides the stated water resistance.
