What does the IP67 rating of the Sony SRS-ULT10 cover?
Two protections: IPX7 for immersion at 1 m for 30 minutes, with the cap firmly closed, and IP6X for dust. It also withstands seawater and can be washed, which is rare on this type of speaker.
What is the ULT button on this Sony speaker for?
It activates ULT POWER SOUND mode, which boosts the bass at the press of a button. The low end relies on dedicated side passive radiators, and the Sound Diffusion Processor widens the sound dispersion to fill the room from a compact enclosure.
Under what conditions is the 12-hour battery life stated?
With ULT mode activated and at medium volume: the figure therefore corresponds to listening with boosted bass, not to a minimal setting. At higher volume, the playing time goes down. Charging is via a USB-C port.
Can the speaker withstand drops?
It has passed a 1.22 m drop test. One caveat to be aware of, though: deformation caused by an impact may impair water and dust resistance, which is not guaranteed in all circumstances after an impact.
Can you use it for hands-free calls?
Yes: the built-in mic features echo reduction, which stops the person you are talking to from hearing their own voice come back. The call goes through the speaker, which is more comfortable than a phone's loudspeaker when you are working nearby.
How do you set down or hang the Sony SRS-ULT10?
Upright or lying flat — it is stable in both positions — or hung by its removable multi-position strap. Enough to hang it from a parasol, handlebars or a branch, then take the strap off when it stays on a shelf.
Can you pair two speakers for stereo sound?
Yes, two speakers connect over Bluetooth to form a stereo pair, each one handling one channel. Pairing with an Android phone is also made easier by Bluetooth Fast Pair, in a single step.
Is the speaker new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. Remember to close the charging port cap carefully before any use near water: it is what provides the stated sealing.
