How long do the JBL Tune 130 NC last with noise cancelling on?
8 hours of playback from the earbuds alone with noise cancelling on, and 24 hours in total with the case. With it switched off, you get 10 hours and 40 hours. The advertised 40 hours therefore assume ANC is off: 8 hours is the figure to remember.
What if the battery runs out just before you leave?
10 minutes of charging gives you 2 hours of playback. A full charge takes 2 hours. The case holds a 750 mAh reserve, compared with 70 mAh per earbud — it is the case that provides most of the battery life over a day.
Can you adjust how much of your own voice you hear during a call?
Yes, with VoiceAware: you set how much of the signal picked up by the mics is fed back into your earbuds. This stops you from raising your voice without realising it when noise cancelling cuts you off from your own voice.
Can you hear your surroundings without removing the earbuds?
Yes, with two modes: Ambient Aware lets outside sounds back in, and TalkThru lets you exchange a few words without taking anything off. Active noise cancellation does the opposite, reducing ambient noise.
Are they sweat resistant?
Yes: they are rated IPX4, meaning protection against splashing water from any direction, sweat included. The X indicates that dust resistance has not been tested. The maximum operating temperature is 45 °C.
How good are the 10 mm drivers?
10 mm drivers with the JBL Pure Bass signature, with 32 ohm impedance and 103 dB sensitivity at 1 kHz, and a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. The maximum sound pressure level is 94 dB.
What's in the box?
The earbuds, the charging case, three ear tip sizes, a warranty booklet and a quick start guide. The earbuds weigh 5.7 g each, i.e. 11.4 g for the pair, and the case 40.4 g: the whole set slips into a pocket.
How are calls handled?
By four mics, with a sensitivity of -10 dBV/Pa at 1 kHz. The number matters: it is what makes it possible to separate your voice from ambient noise, where a single mic gets drowned out by the street or an open-plan office.
Are these JBL earbuds new and under warranty?
