Frequently asked questions about this product

Are the 24 ports of the TL-SF1024 Gigabit?
No: they are Fast Ethernet 10/100 Mbps. This switch is intended for workstations, printers and terminals for which 100 Mbps is enough. For large file transfers or video, choose a Gigabit model.
Can the TL-SF1024 be configured, and does it provide PoE power?
No to both: it is unmanaged and supplies no power over its ports. No web interface, no VLANs to set up: you plug it in and it switches. Cameras and Wi-Fi access points must therefore be powered some other way.
Does this switch need an external power adapter?
No: the mains power supply is built into the case, at 100-240 V and 50-60 Hz. A single power cord is all it takes, with no adapter dangling in the rack, and consumption does not exceed 3.19 W.
How much space does the TL-SF1024 take up in a 19-inch rack?
Just one U, for 440 × 180 × 44 mm and a case designed for rack mounting. Its 18 cm depth also allows it to fit in a wall-mount cabinet, where many 24-port switches do not fit.
What performance does this switch offer?
4.8 Gbps switching capacity and 3.57 Mpps, in store-and-forward mode, with an 8,000-entry MAC address table and 2 MB of buffer memory. All 24 ports negotiate their speed automatically and correct for crossover cables.
Can several TL-SF1024 units be stacked?
No, stacking is not supported. Several units can simply be linked by a network cable between two ports, but they remain independent devices, each with its own power cord.
Does the switch support flow control to prevent losses?
Yes: 802.3x flow control in full duplex, and backpressure in half duplex. When a port is saturated, the sender is slowed down instead of packets being dropped — useful when a fast workstation is feeding a slow terminal.
What temperature range does this switch operate in?
From 0 to 40 °C, at 10 to 90% relative humidity, non-condensing. Its very low power consumption gives off little heat, which makes it easy to fit into a poorly ventilated cabinet.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The TL-SF1024 is FCC and CE certified, and the quick start guide comes with the switch in the box.
