Ports: 8 Gigabit RJ45 ports with auto-negotiation and automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover, for a fast, reliable wired network in an office or shop.
Installation: desktop casing that can also be wall-mounted (wall-mounting kit included), external power adapter supplied, maximum power consumption of 3.3 W. Works plug-and-play, no configuration required.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Can you create VLANs on the TL-SG108S?
No: it is an unmanaged switch, with no configuration interface. You plug it in and it switches traffic, with no password and no management IP address. To segment your network into VLANs you need a managed model; this one adds Gigabit ports behind an ISP router or a main switch.
Does this switch power an IP camera over the network cable?
No, none of its eight ports supplies power. A camera, Wi-Fi access point or IP phone connected to it needs its own power adapter, or a PoE injector placed upstream on the link.
What performance does the TL-SG108S offer?
16 Gbps switching capacity and 11.9 Mpps, with a 4,000-entry MAC address table and 1.5 MB of buffer memory. The eight Gigabit ports negotiate their speed on their own and correct cable crossover automatically (MDI/MDI-X).
Does the switch support jumbo frames for a NAS?
Yes, up to 16,000 bytes, which speeds up copying large files to network storage. IGMP snooping and 802.3x flow control are also active, with no configuration at all.
Can the TL-SG108S be mounted on a wall?
Yes, wall mounting is supported and included. The casing measures 158 × 100.6 × 25.4 mm and is light: it can be screwed inside a comms cupboard, placed behind a screen or slipped into a wall-mounted network cabinet.
How much power does this switch add to your consumption?
3.3 W maximum, from an external 9 V adapter supplied with the device. It can therefore stay on around the clock, even behind a small UPS, without eating into the UPS's runtime.
What type of cable does this Gigabit switch need?
Cat5e to sustain Gigabit speeds; the switch also accepts Category 3, 4 and 5 cable for lower speeds, in 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T. The ports automatically switch to the highest speed that the cable and the connected device support.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The box contains the switch, its power adapter, the rubber feet and the quick start guide, weighing 520 g in total. CE, FCC and RoHS certified.
