Are the TL-SF1024D's 24 ports Gigabit?
No: they are 10/100 Mbps. This is a high-density Fast Ethernet switch, designed to connect a large number of workstations or terminals that do not need Gigabit — label printers, phones, PLCs.
Can this 24-port switch be rack-mounted?
Yes, it is designed for rack mounting. The case measures 294 × 180 × 44 mm, i.e. 1U high with a partial width: it sits just as well on a shelf as in a network cabinet.
How much power does this 24-port switch use?
3.53 W in normal use, on a universal 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz power supply. That is very little for twenty-four ports: at equal density, Fast Ethernet uses considerably less power than Gigabit.
What internal performance does this model offer?
10 Gbps switching capacity and 3.57 Mpps, with an 8,000-entry MAC address table and a 2 MB buffer — enough to handle a fleet of several dozen terminals without constant relearning.
Does this switch need configuring?
No: it is unmanaged. It does, however, support quality of service (QoS), which moves packets marked as priority by the devices to the front of the queue. Auto MDI/MDI-X means you need not worry about the cable type.
Is the switch new and covered by a warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. This is the TP-Link TL-SF1024D, FCC, CE and RoHS certified, which operates from 0 to 40 °C with 10 to 90% relative humidity.
