Yes. The Wave(S) series is stated as suitable for desktop computers, laptops and the PS4. Its 2.5-inch, 7 mm thick form factor and SATA III interface match the console's drive bay, and the gain shows mainly in loading times for installed games.
What speeds can you expect from the 256 GB version?
530 MB/s read and 400 MB/s write sequential, with 45,000 IOPS in 4 KB random read and 75,000 in write. These values are specific to this capacity: the higher models in the series reach up to 550 MB/s read, but the gap remains small on SATA.
Is this drive robust enough for a computer that runs continuously?
The series has been tested to the video surveillance server standard, a set of stability requirements, and its mean time between failures is rated at 1,500,000 hours. With no moving parts, there is no motor or read head that could fail.
How much data can be written to this 256 GB drive?
80 TB, or more than three hundred complete fills of the drive. As the TRIM command is supported, erased space is freed as you go and write speed does not collapse as the drive fills up — a point where early SSDs fell short.
Does it fit in a laptop's 2.5-inch drive bay?
Yes. It is a 2.5-inch form factor, 7 mm thick, the one laptop drive bays expect, and it weighs no more than 34.4 g. In a tower, it occupies a 2.5-inch mounting position and connects to a SATA port on the motherboard.
How much power does it draw, and does that matter on battery?
1.4 W maximum at this capacity. That is a peak, reached under sustained writing; when reading and at idle, power draw is lower still. On a laptop, replacing a spinning hard drive and its motor with this module shows directly in battery life.
What temperature range does this drive operate in?
From 0 to 70 °C in operation, and from -40 to 85 °C when powered off. The upper limit is judged from the S.M.A.R.T. attributes of the module itself, not from the air temperature inside the case.
Is the drive new and under warranty?
